Another great story from you... Our heroes are always saving the world, but saving those simple, everyday people who are completely oblivious really seems to make it all worthwhile, and you conveyed that perfectly.

It's good that Jack realizes that he still has a family, albeit an unusual one. I'm imagining him sitting there lazily thinking of what still could have been and then what he has now and being thankful. An enjoyable fic.

Brilliant! You not only have an original story, but you gave a reason for Jack to fight so tirelessly. I can just see him thinking about the Spencer family every time he had to save the world. Jack is one smart cookie. I may be wrong, but it seems you insinuate that Jack knew this was bizarre all along, but continues it anyway. It is his secret - something he knows that Carter doesn't know.
