I am irresistably reminded of a tale Grissom told way back in Season Six about his mother putting out Christmas presents every year for Grissom's father long after he died. Whether or not that had any part in forming this this story, the ritual of preparing a place for an absent loved one has a resonance that adds to the heartbreak of this piece. Good job.
