A great view on the ambiguity of John's actions. Did he do the right thing? Debatable. Was it in character for the guy who said he'd do anything to protect those he considered family? Absolutely!

I am pretty torn on Sheppards actions and really thought the only honorable thing for him do to would be to offer to take Rodneys place himself. Offering up someone else's life and manipulating Wallace into sacrifing himself has just left me a little shocked. And after reading your fic it has brought home even more the horror of what Sheppard actually did. I can't say he did the right thing like many are saying or that he did what was necessary, or that his friendship or devotion to Rodney gave him the right to push a grieving man to such a horrible death. He like Wallace didnt want to loose a loved one, but love for a friend somehow exonerates Sheppard but love for a daughter does not exonerate Wallace.

This was an excellent piece and I was hoping one of the better writers would do something along these lines for Miller’s Crossing. Very expressive and elegantly done.

This story was fantastic. Without a doubt one of the best tag scenes for any episode (but especially for Miller's Crossing) that I've read. It's heartbreaking but so good that it just begs to be read again. You really captured the voice of Sheppard in this and the alternate universes are very much believable.
