I loved this, I really did. It's a missing moment that hasn't been done WELL a whole lot (many stories I've read from this angle have portrayed Hermione as TOO over-emotional at this point. I think you captured Hermione's feelings perfectly; I think we all sensed that her hesitation upon seeing Ron again was just that: an inner debate between whether to hug and kiss him, or slap him. And thank heavens that she picked the latter choice, yes? ;-) Goodness knows he needed just a BIT of slapping around after what he did, even though he was truly sorry.

Perhaps a companion piece telling us Ron's thoughts at the same time? *Wink, wink*
