I had a nice big review all set for this, but then I lost it. Drat.

Anyway, I'll try again. This was a very darkly-humourous little piece, but not so dark that you couldn't get away with it. You use Penfold's ignorance to your advantage, maintaining the whole idea of uncertainty as to what is beneath DM's patch. I also like the random scenario - if I were you I'd let it stand as it is, because it's nice to just guess.
