This was great as is what I've come to expect from you. I like how Sam comes to terms with Jess's death in a way by the end... it helps him have grief in the story but still line up with how he acts in the show. Well done.

Very heartbreaking but at the same time uplifting story. Dean quietly standing by watching his brother and being there when he is needed most is really awesome. How it is his actions in the end that give Sam the last bit of courage he needs to go on is great. But I also like how you let Sam find the reason to go on. This is a very special story. Wow, that was just beautiful. I had every intention of reviewing as I went but got too caught up in the story.
I'll just comment on few things that I loved about it.
I loved Dean and his silent support of Sam. As goofy as that boy can be, I can see him standing back and letting Sam deal but putting himself in Sam's face just enough to let him know he was there when needed. Getting a bit pushier when it was needed to keep Sam from just letting go of everything.
Sam is great at internalizing his emotions and I think at this period of time he wouldn't have been too willing to let Dean in especially because it had been so long since he and Dean had shared the closeness they had growing up. I think alot of people think he just wants to talk everything to death but really we only see him trying to get Dean to talk. He really doesn't say that much himself, unless Dean irks him into it. Mind you I haven't watched the first season in awhile so I could be wrong. Anyway to get back on topic, You really captured Sam and his grief well. Beautiful job.
The viewing/wake(?) before the funeral was incredibly heartbreaking. It pretty much killed my box of tissue.
Loved this look at the week after Jess's death and this was a great follow up to your story "Jess".

This is a great filler story after the fire and it's a nice change to read a story that centres around Sam.

Great story, so well written and spot on characterizations. I could totally seeing this being how that week transpired and unless the show ever addresses this week, I would consider this canon.

Marvelous, but then again, you're one of my favorite writers. Poor Sam, and Dean, too, how difficult this was for both of them. And Sam, nearly choosing suicide! Thank God he realized how much that would hurt Dean and thought it through! And his well-thought-out decision to join his brother and figure out what was going on, why two of the most important people in his life had been chosen to die. You fill in the blanks brilliantly!
