Reiko The Awesome 2009-11-22 . chapter 20I came across this story after being bored and finding nothing to read in my other fandoms, and after reading the first few lines in the first chapter, I knew right away that I had been saved from boredom, let alone enjoy this story. The character's personalities-and Ryu, who's a known mute in the game-is spot-on. I can actually imagine him acting like a clown, all thanks to Rei's influence. XD Speaking of which, I've enjoyed the inclusion of him and Momo in the story, as well that funny, yet cute moment after he punched that geezer who kissed her. Nina's struggle and the plot had me drawn in, and I must commend you for doing such a wonderful job. The story has all the flavor of genres I enjoy, that being romance, humor, action, drama, and adventure.
My favorite scenes had to be when Ryu made that remark about his sword being bigger than Edmund's, and strangely the part where he was about to toast him in dragon form. It made me think of that catchphrase, 'F- you, I'm a dragon!'. Anyway, you've managed to rekindle my love for BoF, and I can't wait for the next chapter. I've read all them yesterday from eight to almost four am. O__o Once again, awesome job. :3 |
Gabe 2009-11-20 . chapter 20 The chapter's full of action
But on my part, it's apparently good, although out of the romance category...
It's still awesome!

Estrelita Farr 2009-10-23 . chapter 20Another great chapter as usual, Nina! No worries about being late with the chapter, I'm glad there's an update at all, since I know how hard it is to write a climax scene, especially with confusion whirling around. I had similar trouble with the second-to-last chapter of my BoF3 novelisation. x_x
It's great to know that Nina (the character) is finally courageous enough to face everything, even though by going back, they'd be found out. And I've always like the idea of Ryu in a war, scaring the heck out of soldiers on both sides. xP
And what a twist! I thought the Shanians would be here merely for the chalice, but no, it had to be a corrupted priest with eyes set on conquest! Even a peaceful tribe isn't completely free from greed and ambition, huh? And the Shanian warriors were just duplicates?!
On your action scenes; the confusion of the war was clearly portrayed, and one could imagine Nina running through the haze of confusion. One could feel Nina's fear clouding her senses, then lifted as she pushed on determinedly. It's well written, so don't worry about it! Action scenes may not be your forte, but it's better than what I write. xP
Great job overall, and looking forward to the next chapter! |
Airess Byrd 2009-10-13 . chapter 20love the chapter for this story :) i really like how you went with this chapter, and it's nice to see nina acting like a "hero" like she wishes she could ^_^ nice fight scene btw |

Millen Stryker 2009-10-03 . chapter 20*claps* Your hard word has been paid off, NW! I hope the 2nd half's just as good.
It's great to see Nina standing her own ground and showed that arrogant Shanian priest what for. |
Lord Kain 2009-10-03 . chapter 20I wonder how the Wyndians would have reacted to seeing the Dragon coming back and fighting the grassrunners. I'd imagine first a look of horror first thinking the horrible dragon was coming to aid the grassrunners, then joy seeing the horrible dragon was on their side.
"Goddess save us, the dragon is coming back to help destroy us, curse the dragon"
"Its attacking the Grassrunners"
"Praise be to the wonderful dragon"
Now, I'm thinking from Nina's position the Wyndian army probably couldn't see her, their attention focused mainly on the huge Dragon behind her. What I think Nina should be sure Ryu gets credit for helping bring down the Grassrunner leader, even more credit then he's due Ryu needs those favor points, and saved the Kingdom from the grassrunner invasion should be worth something.
Then again Nina's taken a level in badass so she may simply demand she get to choose Ryu as her man.
In any event she certainly has much to hammer out in the next chapter, Edmund, Ryu, control of her own destiny. |

Prinny333 2009-07-25 . chapter 19Wow, I must say that you are an amazing writer. After reading this, I just had to create an account in order to comment and complement your work. Being a fan of the BOF games, especially BOF 3, I am overwhelmed by both the length and depth of the story. I spent all night reading it, lol. Ryu and Nina have always been one of my favorite game couples, and the way you express their characteristics is fantastic. The personalities of Ryu's friends are not out of character, and Ryu acts just like I imagined he would if he talked. The story is very creative and thrilling, with Nina's internal conflict between the happiness of the people or the happiness of herself making it all the more suspenseful. I thought it was very clever the way Ryu gives Nina the freedom to make her own choice, rather than being a damsel in distress. I also found it funny for Ryu to be drunk at the Inn and ironic that Ryu was thrown into the same prison, haha. Heck, I even enjoy the Momo and Rei love possibility, even though that never crossed my mind when playing the game. Besides some grammatical errors (which did not bother me in the least), you're use of diction is absolutely superb (had to look up the definition of some words while reading), and the way you carry out the story is hypnotizing. I have really enjoyed it and look forward to the conclusion, which as of now remains an enigma. Thank you! |

Airess Byrd 2009-07-13 . chapter 19hee, that's for the shoutout, miss windia! its always a pleasure to read your stories! ^_^ i loved this chapter for the painfully obivious. it really was ryu to the rescue, huh? he did great by giving nina a way out that didn't end up placing the blame on her. momo and rei are also awesome in this chapter as well. a date with the cupboard, indeed ^_^; the way the chapter ended was crazy insane! well, the shanians DID try to warn wyndia what they would do if that cup wasn't returned, right? ANYWAY, you ask an interesting question, nina. :) a question that one might find hard to answer.
now, you were curious if we thought that nina made the right choice. nina did manage to tangle herself in that web pretty good, huh? now, from birth, nina was raised with the expectations of being the heir to the throne. now, we all know that nina is stubborn as heck and she so does not like it when her mother starts meddling in her private business. now, nina didn't seem to resent anything about the royal life unless her mother was somehow involved. her mother was the one that pushed for the wedding and that automatically made nina (out of habit) push back and not want the wedding. it's part of her nature. she was being forced to chose between ryu and her country. she denied her heart and was going to marry edmund cuz that was what she thought she should do.
but nina's gonna be queen someday, right? the problem was, nina was listening to everyone BUT herself. in the very first chapter, her father told her it was her choice, yeah? what she should decide with her heart? what sheila fell to realize was that she wasn't always going to be around to tell nina what's what. if sheila had loosing the leash she tried to tie on nina just a little bit, maybe nina would have listened to her just a little more. she just never trusted her daughter, and that led to nina's inner turmoil and stuff. sure, she brought a lot on it herself by not standing up and saying what's what, but by that time, she was just tired of all the drama. as any sane person would.
nina knew that ed was not fit for the throne. but it was too late to back out right? so, ryu decided to play the part of the villain once more and he gave nina an out without placing the blame on nina. so, your question was, did nina make the right choice? well, we all make mistakes. nina learned that the hard way and she was trying to make it right... even though that was not what she wanted to do. ryu gave her a way out and she took it. i would probably do the same thing in her place. time away would give nina time to think what would the best course of action would be, without everyone adding thier two cents in. so, yes, i think that nina made the right choice. ^_^
crap, that's a long review, huh? ^_^; |
