It's tragic, which is a plus. But the Heero portrayed is a bit ooc in my mind. I don't know, maybe its the fact that he just runs away from his problems instead of confronting them as he would have during the war. I'm fairly certain he would have been on Duo's doorstep with a gun prepared to off both Duo and Wufei regardless of his statement that 'he didn't ever have to kill again.'
I did enjoy the fact that Wufei was willing to help a friend, even one who was not all that close to him, and in such a big way...since he is het.
But I found parts of this to be highly predictable and too dramatic for my tastes. Not to say it isn't really really well written, because it is.

I absolutely love this story. I love the emotion and the realism and the way Heero is so lost and confused. I think you do Heero's POV so amazingly well. And I felt so bad for Duo. He always seems to be the one suffering and left behind. In a complete side note, one of these days, I swear I will contribute to the GW fandom and write a good fic for him. Anyway, this really was so enjoyable, and it makes me sad to see that you don't have hundreds of reviews for this. You're such a great writer, and your contribution to the fandom has been so impressive. Thank you so much.

Now this is something that I like. Dramatic to a point of infuriating me, sweet enough that I just want to squish them, tragic enough that I feel for him/them/whomever, and just have the right touch to make me adore it. Plus, Wufei plays a really fantastic part in here. That is a bonus.

Ah that was wonderful! So much emotion in just one chapter and such a warm ending. A very festive story indeed. I must bow to Snowdragonct's superior plot prediction skills. Definitely pinned that one! This story made me smile and my eyes tear a little at the same time. I really enjoyed it!

Thank you very much for writing.
Merry Christmas!

You had me seriously worried when Duo tried to make Heero leave, but thank heavens for a happy ending. I knew I could count on you! And all the little clues you dropped along the way added up to cancer perfectly! The marriage, the insurance issue, the fact that Quatre had his own struggles and wasn't really financially able to help, even if Duo had stopped being too proud to ask...the diet and the short hair...EVERYTHING added up nicely. Heero sure did learn a lesson in his years of travel...he learned what really mattered, and to MAKE Duo see that you have to enjoy the time you have, rather than worry that it's too short. Like he said, we all could die a million silly, sudden ways...and all we can do in the meantime is love our friends and family as much as possible, and make the most of the time we have. That's a pretty good lesson, and you gave us a warm, fuzzy Christmas story. Thanks very, very much!
