Interesting beginning. You can go in any direction and the possibilities are endless. Great use of opening scene depiction. Just an observation. Would have liked to have seen a conversation between Anne and Kim though. While your discription speaks volumes of unsaid words and is well written, you kind of want to see an upclose personal moment between mother and daughter for some reason. It sort of calls out from the moment.
