I thought you did a great job with it, getting Cherry's confused indignant teenage-girl thoughts into order until they go full circle to exactly the point where they started - she has no clue what draws her to him, but in the end it's all his fault :D. | Queen Jane Approximately 2007-12-26 ch 1, | abuseI kept meaning to read this over at the message boards, but I never got around to it. However, I'm really glad that I did now. I thought this was fabulous -- you write so well, and your characterization of Dallas was spot-on, I think. I liked her comparing him to a wild animal in the beginning -- it was an interesting and cool way to pay homage to his description in the book. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but I just picked up on it and thought it was neat. And normally I truly dislike Cherry, but you made me kind of like her in this, lol. Probably because it's just her true thoughts, and not her acting snobby as a facade. I love the way you wrote her, too, and kind of embellished on her character -- captivated by him but yet fearful. There were a lot of lines that really jumped out at me here, too, but I'd take up more space than necessary here if I listed them all, lol. I did like this one in particular, though. I loved the description: "But, there he was, strutting over to her from across the vacant lot, his jeans and T-shirt too tight and too dirty, inspecting her and her Sting Ray with eyes so hungry she thought they’d jump out and bite her." | mars on fire 2007-12-25 ch 1, | abuseI love this - it's a realistic way to do Dally/Cherry fic and not be totally OOC. I love that she still has all these notions of what greasers are like - and the sad part is a lot of it is true. Dally does end up dead and how she imagines she and Dallas would get together is exactly how it would happen. She isn't kidding herself, but she still has these feelings she can't control. Very realistic. Nice job! |
