| Hawaiichick 2008-01-06 ch 1, | abuseWhoa...this is a different side to Soda. But real interesting. Can't wait for more. |
| An-Jelly-Ca 2008-01-02 ch 1, | abuse*heart breaks in many small pieces* SODA! No. No. No. No. I refuse to acknowledge that Soda dies in Vietnam. What does S.E. Hinton know? She's only the author. Fantastic chapter, I love the story! |
| Queen Jane Approximately 2007-12-27 ch 1, | abuseI may have grinned like an idiot for a moment upon seeing 'Vietnam fic' in the summary. As a self-proclaimed Vietnam War expert, I get a bit excited when things like this pop up amid the sea of fanbrats. And I think you executed this very nicely. It sounded realistic in the case of the war, as did Soda's thoughts. Your writing Steve as being dependent on marijuana was a new one -- and rather original, too, I might add. Though the original post-novel "plan" was that he became a heroin addict, I could definitely see him smoking pot on a regular basis, as well, especially since it was so widely used --and abused -- in Vietnam. The only thing I would watch out for is sentence structure -- there were a few nonexistent commas in places that should have had commas, and there was one sentence in the second paragraph that was a little too long. You could have broken some of it up with periods and even semi-colons in some places; I found myself becoming a bit confused while trying to concentrate on it. Otherwise, though, I really liked this. Very nice job. :) Peace, Queen Jane |
| FlaminSquirrelz 2007-12-27 ch 1, | abuseI really like this, Megh. It's interesting that you have Soda recognizing that he's not the same. I'd never thought of it that way. And, although it's sad, I like the way he acts toward Steve. Calling him "Randle," and such. There's an interesting contrast -- Steve's too high to know what's going on, so he's wondering where the old Soda has gone, and Soda's ironically turned more like Steve. Well, Dally more like. A sort of hardened beyong caring kind of thing. Good job. : ) |
| caryn 2007-12-27 ch 1, anon. | abuseMeghan, that was amazing. I've never seen soda in that light. I liked it. that was amazing, oh i already said that. Oh well. |
