Ah-ha, so Gohan babbles when he's nervous! That seems oddly in-character, and it's touching that only a friend that Gohan considers as trustworthy as Piccolo-san would get to see that vulnerable side of him. You're right -- this works miles better than angst.

There's a lot of subtle humor here, which I think, in light of the day's events that follow, is for the best. Cleverly written, and at just the right length, this could have been an amazing sequence in the anime (if they had ever, y'know, considered it prudent to spend more than ten seconds at a time on a character's mental and emotional development). Fantastic, I just loved it.

This is easily one of the best Gohan fics out there in the realm of the internet. Thank you very much for writing this!

This was an excellent little story that I enjoyed reading a lot =). I love the way you captured Piccolo's and Gohan's character perfectly in the short amount of time that was spent with the story.

I absolutely love the work on the characters here- especially little Gohan. Wonderful. The analysis Pic did- how he reacts to different issues was especially good. It's sweet and sad but not angsty sad. In the end it just makes you smile. It's really good stuff, and it made for an absolutely wonderful read. I really hope you have other stuff with these two because I'm gonna go look for it right now <

Anyways, I liked this one shot a lot. The line with Mr. Popo attacking Cell with his 'killer garden rake' was hilarious! You're quite the talented writer.

This was very amusing. I can't put into words, but there was something unique about your storytelling in this fic--or perhaps I was just (pleasantly) surprised not to see the usual fluff that characterizes Gohan-Piccolo interactions in fanfics. I like how you kept Piccolo from getting "soft", yet also showed that he was irrevocably bonded to Gohan.

Aw, I love Gohan and Piccolo, and this was a very sweet fic. I don't think you need to be worried about and OOC Piccolo, he was just fine to me.

I especially liked this part: "When Gohan was scared, he shook until he was snapped out of it. When he was hungry, he whined until he was fed. When he was content, he grinned until the bad news was dropped like a bomb. When he was angry, he threw a tantrum until someone slapped him. When he was downright pissed, he kicked your ass until he felt you had damn well paid up... When he was completely, utterly and hopelessly lost, he babbled. A lot." A very truthful description of an adolescent Gohan, great job!
