Cinnamon Plum 2008-01-06 . chapter 1As a philosophical piece from Boromir's point of view, this is well thought out, and the writing is quite nice. I cdan definately see why Boromir might say (and perhaps believe) that the Elves were, in this way cowards, and that this attitude would be driven more by desperation at the situation of the Men of Middle-earth (and especially Gondor, I suppose), by the fact that there *was no escape* (I'd dearly love to be able to use italics here) than because he truly condemned what the Elves were doing.
This attitude is not Niumenorean at all is it? - neither reverance nor true envy of the Elves (especially their immortality). Especially interesting is that Boromir notes not only that Men are bound to death but also 'imperfections, failing', with no escape.
Except death? Well, this fic is thought provoking and well done. |
