I really missed this stuff. Fanfiction, I mean. Nice execution. Suspense has always been my thing. Although the reader has no clue what is happening in this snippet, you leave them dumbfounded, wanting to know more about an instance that doesn't really mean anything to them, which is just sinister--the reader obviously being me. :P
