Great build up of tension. I liked the conversation between Xu and Seifer.

I am mostly enjoying the fact this is starting to remind me a little of a hardboiled detective novel, minus the melodramatic narrator.

THE TENSION BETWEEN SQUALL AND RINOA AND QUISTIS WATCHING IT IS LIKE AN ITCH SOMEWHERE IN YOUR BODY, INSIDE YOUR BODY, THAT YOU CANNOT JUST HEAL, OR SCRATCH OR WHATEVER. IT KEEPS TUGGING YOU AND YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, YOU JUST LET IT BE. BECAUSE. YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I AM HURTING WITH THAT FACT BECAUSE XU IS LIKE, A GOD WHO KNOWS, YOU KNOW? AND COME ON, QUISTIS IS ON SAILING ON THAT DAMNED RIVER IN EGYPT AGAIN.

AND THEN AND THEN. I FEEL LIKE THIS MADE MY NIGHT ONCE;

At least she could channel most of that blame to the fact that bothof them had been junctioned. As it stood, arguments between Quistis and Squall had resulted in more than one dented wall.

AND THEN AND THEN. SEIFER/XU BECOMES MY SECOND OTP. TOTALLY. SERIOUSLY.

AND THEN AND THEN, THE END SCARRED ME FOR LIFE I CANNOT DEAL. SOMEHOW IN THE BACK OF MY MIND, IT PAINS ME THAT I CAN ONLY SEE THAT QUISTIS AND THAT SQUALL IN THIS FIC. SO IF YOU TOTALLY LIKE, DO SOMETHING BAD ABOUT THEM, I WOULD DIE, ERR, CRY. SERIOUSLY.
I WANT TO CRY.

AND THEN AND THEN, I WILL LOSE MY MIND IF THE UPDATES DON'T COME A LITTLE FASTER. NO PRESSURE THOUGH. BUT DANG IT, YOU OWNED ME BIG.

OMG. I loved the Rinoa/Squall tension during the interrogation; those two have bickering down pat. And I loved Quistis just watching it play out before her because there's really nothing she can do about it and there's nothing she can do to take away what was between them, and watching it can make one feel like such an outsider in times like those... beautifully executed.

And, as always, the Seifer and Xu parts were amazing. xD Xu is an awesome jailer.

Great chapter. I can't wait to read more.

Great chapter! Boo to Rinoa and Squall fighting. A couple minor typos, nothing serious. I like how you portray Xu. =) Can't wait to see what happens next!

Omg why do you keep killing me like this. I think one of my favorite parts of this chapter was the juxtaposition between Rinoa and Quistis, the little things like the changes in Squall's behavior and stuff- I really liked that part, made it sort of really clear what exactly is different there and how slow it can be to adapt to the change. Plus, Damien got shot, and I'm all about that. I mean, you know, cause ELLONE IS DEAD and someone needs to pay. xD

I loved the Seifer and Xu part- BONDAGE FOREPLAY?? Bwahaha j/k. xD

Yay! Great chapter, nice action. What does Rinoa see in this Damien character? Can't wait to see what happens next, and what happens between Rinoa and Squall! I understand fully about lack of updating; I haven't touched my fics in months...last quarter of college! Woot!

I am so in awe of Squall. And Quistis. Okay, maybe Rinoa too, because I have a love-hate thing for her, but overall, on how this story just unfolds to hit at the right spot in my heart.

The thing is, when I saw your update, I JUMPED. Wait, that sounded so immature but hell, who cares. I just knew I did, because I've been waiting for this a long time already and know what, you are, from my take of your preference in FF8, not as Quistis/Squall as Seifer/Quistis or who else. BUT. You write Squall/Quistis so beautifully, it makes me wonder how in the world would I live after reading them in your fic.

Maybe I am not making any sense, but Quistis and THAT line, guh gotta love that. Talk about nailing it.

I don't even know how I went so long without reading this! Squall/Quistis is my OTP and the suspense is fantastic. Everyone is so in character, but weary, older and matured. Loving this so much!
