PhoenixRe 9/6/10 . chapter 1Very cute and sweet. I rather like this kind of endings which promise something to happen and you know what this is but leave it unsaid. It's appropriate for this story. |
Krissel Himura 3/9/09 . chapter 1nyao that was nice but very descriptive huh... hahaha! but nice! I hope you do more ranxshinichi good luck! |
DetectiveConanKid 11/8/08 . chapter 1Let me get this out of the way- I hate songfics. Either the fic isn't particularly good, in which case a good song is wasted or I'm reminded of a bad song, and in good songfics, 99% of the time the fic would work without the song anyway. The latter is true in this fic. The song often times seems to break the flow of the story, and except for that "What do they know about this love anyway?" Line, the song just hampers the fic more than helps it.
In addition, a pet peeve of mine is when you're uncertain if you're going to continue a story, and end it on such a blatant cliff-hanger. It's one thing to have a climatic ending to a story, it's another to end a story that seems rather half-finished, and even state that you're not certain that you're going to have a sequal.
Overall however, the story is well done. The plot is rather mundane, but flows well and in a logical progression and conclusion. The characters all act in character, and Shinichi carries the story pretty well by himself. I especially enjoyed the dream sequence, because it honestly seems to connect the two Shinichi's, the one leading a lie- Conan, and the one he used to be.
The anecdote is again, logical and demonstrates how much he truly cares about Ran. I can honestly imagine it happening, which is something that is often not the case with made-up stories.
Overall it's a solid story, and I can't wait to read the next one.

JohnQPublic0 10/4/08 . chapter 1Wow, this, in it's own way, is a fantastic one-shot. It's interesting to think about how Shinichi would tell Ran the truth, and his conflict almost every day on if to tell her then or not. It's a pretty worn-out plotline, but there's a reason it's worn-out, and you do a good job havi your own style to it.
Personally, I dislike songfics, simply because often the song either doesn't fit the fic they're writing, or it just seems to interrupt the fic, and really lessens the enjoyment of reading it. The former isn't true at all in this fic, the second one is somewhat. I feel that the story could have easily been great without the song, and it almost seems like the lyrics were shoe-horned into the fic. The interruptions aren't particularly enjoyable honestly, although they are a good way to denote paragraph or page breaks.
The fic is all from the POV of Shinichi, and in that regard he seems to be quite in-character, I could honestly see him thinking the way he did in the fic. The dream itself was rather interesting, and really makes you think about the two personalities that Shinichi really has, the dual-life he has to live if the will. The brilliant and mature young Detective, and the juvenile and talkative young boy. The only other thing I dislike is the huge cliffhanger the story ends at, espeically if initially you weren't sure that there was going to be a sequel. There was one though, so it works out.
The writing is superb, and really helps the story flow extremely well. There don't seem to be any particularly visible spelling/grammar errors, and if they are there, they don't detract from the story.
Overall the story is quite good for a one-shot, and I can't wait to see other stories you've come up with.

EagleBlaze 10/3/08 . chapter 1Good fanfic :-). I felt really sorry for Shinichi and glad that he's going to finally tell Ran on what happened to him (but of course something's probably going to happen just as he's about to tell her or something...).
Keep up the very good work!

Jho 4/4/08 . chapter 1Your writing rocks, very awesome. |
Sefi Ne 7/20/07 . chapter 1Oh! How sweet!
The author to the Detective Conan series *is* (or rather *should be*) respected. It has potential angst! (But I'm betting you already knew that.

Shadewolf7 7/16/07 . chapter 1Shinichi? Thieve? He really will do ANYTHING for Ran. |
Kawaii Rin-chan 7/1/07 . chapter 1Am I the only who thinks having ankle-deep flowers in the portion of the room would be a little troublesome to pick up and place them somewheres? Aie, Or better yet trying to explain why there is so many flowers to Kogoro? That'll be fun. xD
Anyway! I did stumble upon this fanfic a few years ago, and I'm glad that I managed to find it again. It's a wonderful piece, and I plan to read the sequel, and the other sequel to it. I also decided since now I have a account, I should leave a review. Just to show some appreciation, y'know?
