Wow, while I think the character type you may have been channeling is much more a young Iroh and his wife. (At least in my head what his wife would have been like, it seems to me a man doesn't get to be so wise without the support of a good woman.) I love the Zutara and I love the subtle hints rather than the needed angsty stuff usually put out for mindless consumption, nom nom nom. I have to say yours is one of the best writen pieces I have yet come across. Very few authers here are at your level of vocabulary. Your take on Zuko's beleif system makes great sense to the character and thus to the reader. Too many times I feel people put their own spin on the wayward prince. They make him too childish, too kind, too fluffy. I suppose it is for expediance's sake as few oneshots or stories in general reach 50 words or greater. People push too far too fast in order to get to the part of the story they want. Smooches or sex. I love it when people like you can take a short format and say volumes with a word. No pushing the characters farther than they would themselves have gone in a reasonable time. Long winded praise short, this was a very well written piece and I bow to your awesome.
