abuseMary-Sues are implicitly bad because otherwise they would be a good OC character and not Mary-Sue-ish (otherwise known as perfection personified with a hint of flashfire temper and kick ** powers that appear whenever most desperately needed). Liked the ending with the final resolution and the confirmation of the brothers' bond. Dean's dream was intense. Wonderful story. The baby buried with shame still makes me sniff.

abuseThis was beautiful. There are no other words for it! I have spent the past few days, when I could, immersing myself in this fic and coming out of it bewildered and lost, the fic more real that reality it seems!

Gorgeous, wonderful and fantastic!! I'm definitely saving this!

*hugs*

abuseAnd so another story wraps up - I'm sorry to see this end - I'll miss it. What a fabulous closing chapter. I just loved Dean's race to Stanford to see Sam, riding recklessly on the motorcycle, need burning. And this, as Dean reached the campus: "He sat for a moment, a cowboy at the end of the trail, not exactly coming home, because home was one of those moveable places, winked in and out of his life depending on who was where. So, a sort of homecoming." Sam will always be Dean's "homecoming".

But it was his confrontation with his Dad that turned the tide - he walked away from the mighty John Winchester to find his brother because Sam needed him, that Sam wasn't OK. Had he stayed, I'm sure that Dean would not have awoken, that he would have either died or stayed in a coma-like state.

I really liked the way you wrote Sam's thoughts - all hopeful that Dean would wake up, because that was what Winchesters do: "Winchesters tended to wake up eventually, though the cost was sometimes too high." And here we are back to Dean's deal and all of the pain it has caused both of them.

I have to admit that I was surprised at Dean's statement regarding making the deal and bringing Sam back: "I didn't do it for you". I disagree. I don't know whether Dean was trying to make Sam feel less guilty, but Dean did bring Sam back for Sam. Dean believes that Sam has more right to live than he does, that Sam's life is worth more than his, that he failed at his job of protecting Sam and had to make it "right". Anyway, that's what I believe.

Fabulous story. Nice ending with the boys cruising in the Impala choosing a route as they go. Together. And getting new tires - because "WE'RE going to need them". Not "you're"...

Thanks for sharing your amazing talents with us. I look forward to your next story. Until next time...

abuseThank you for a long, lazy Saturday afternoon with a rich, lovely fic. Favorite parts: there's a description of the journal in Chapter 4, I believe; the cemetery; Sam's first time in the barn, and his first time in the barn with Marie; Dean just 'arriving' outside Denver--oh, FAR too many to mention individually, really. The most beautiful, of course, is the heartbreaking reality of "I know how to bury things with love."

abuseSo you probably already know all the references to Dazzleland and Fire in the Hole had me squeeing myself almost into a coma, right? The way you worked your angst into the show's angst was just masterful. Sam's realisation that Dean never left him, it was always other people doing the leaving was insightful and heartbreaking, and worked perfectly for your 'verse and Kripke's 'verse too. I loved how Dean found what he needed to find to get 'home' in his dream / memory - namely Sam. That he didn't do what Dad wanted and turn away as he had in life. And that was some admission he made at the end - that he'd not saved Sam for Sam. As for Sam finally thanking him? Has he ever actually done that in canon? It was really nice to see that here anyway.

So another fic over. And this time I've got Hobo life to add to logging, silver mining and the delights of Niagara to add to the things I've learned all about from your fics. Can't wait to find out what you're going to teach us about in the next one!

Thanks for writing such an amazingly entertaining, informative and emotional story.

abuseThis story is all the more beautiful to me because of its links to "Fire in the Hole," possibly (with all due respect and love for "Red") my favorite SN fanfic of ... ever. I feel grateful, and gratified, that Sam has learned just a little of what went on during that year. And grateful for another wonderful Big Pink Story as well. I really love your depiction of Dean-- truly, madly and deeply-- but that's easy because I always love Dean. What blows me away about your stories is that I savor and re-read all the Sammy parts too-- and I'll admit that oftentimes, in lesser works of fiction, I skip the Sammy parts. Not with your work, though... in your stories, what you say in the last chapter of New Deal is true: the boys really are stronger together.

I look forward to my next Big Pink alert!

abuseAwesome story! I was able to make it about halfway through last night, then came back for the rest today.

I love the angle you used to show us the brother's relationship. You had both of their characterizations spot on, and showed them in a more realistic light. I think sometimes we forget they're brothers, and we forget how those relationships actually are. Everything from Dean calling Sam a ** idiot during the ash storm to Sam constantly getting ticked off by Dean's antics, those are how siblings react.

You had awesome imagery going, I was easily able to watch it all playing out before me. Normally, descriptions can get too long and can easily lose a person, but you had just the right amount.

Great story line! From your kooky old bat to the warring business man, all of your OCs added to the story instead of overpowering it.

Overall, a very enjoyable read! :) I hope you begin again soon, I'll be keeping an eye out! :)

abuseOh I'm so sad it's come to this - the end. Another FANTASTIC story - so well written, researched and delivered. You really bring so much to these characters - all of them, but most especially of course, the ones we most care about.
Can't really think of anything constructive to suggest about what you do (says below that that is what these reviews are supposed to be about)because I absolutely LOVE everything about your work. For me you get it right all the time in every way.
In total awe of your storytelling and talent.
Thank you!

abuseThis is so great!! Love the interaction between the boys, how Dean is reluctant to tell Sam about the bad things have have happened to him, and how Sam senses htem all the same! - I will miss more updating on this story - and hope you will be back for more... :) :)

abuseWonderful. I love the picture you paint of Dean. The longing, the responsibility, the need that is forever unfulfilled, the acceptance of what is. Simply beautiful. I really enjoyed this. Thanks!
