I liked: "But take the steady tick-tick-tick from Albert’s pocket watch. That was a sound to set your life to."

And also, "the waltz of a shave". You can really hear it.

Wow, very nicely written. Mrs. Lovett seemed to be in character the entire time, which of course felt most authentic. :)

This was wonderful to read. Most of what I've read in the Sweeney Todd category writes Mrs. Lovett as totally preoccupied with Todd and absolutely obsessed with him to the point that there's no room left for the rest of her character. You've captured the rest of that character extremely well. My favorite lines were the ones about Albert's pocketwatch, and the contrast between her description of the sound and then how she sold it. Again, lovely and poignant, and beautifully done.
