I just spent al nioght reading this when I should have been in bed HOURS ago! lol I kinda figured what would happen to Booth in like the 3rd chap,lol. I am REALLY hoping for a Happy ending! I am at work, so through numerous interruptions, I am literally sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next! Phenomenal job! I can't wait for the next update!! Also, my coworkers now believe that I am emotionally unstable - I read the chapter where Brennan was singing "Keep on Trying" to Booth and lost it! I had to excuse myself for a few minutes to wipe the tears from my eyes. So heartwrenching!

I got a C2 alert for this story, didn't intend to read it because I wasn't crazy about the movie (the original w/ Vincent Price, didn't bother with the remake after everyone I know told me it was awful). Then last night I'm sitting at my desk, husband and kids gone to bed, new Bones watched, laundry dutifully avoided, nothing to do. What the heck, I'll read a chap or two and see if it's any good. If it's in 'Intelligence...' it can't be too bad, right? An hour later... "just one more chapter"... two hours... "I'm almost to the end, might as well finish it, I'll be a zombie tomorrow but I can't put this down". But guess what... I can't finish it because IT'S NOT DONE. Would've been nice to know that from the start. Darned FF. So get off your bum and finish the thing. Please. ;-) It's very well written and, though there are a few story elements I don't completely buy, a overall pleasure to read. Can't wait for the end!
Seralis 2008-04-28 ch 29,	abuseSo after plowing through this story from beginning to here, I stand by what I said on LJ (I'm aelysian, by the way) with a few more comments. First, this was a much appreciated reprieve from the usual crap that floods this site. Your writing is evocative and compelling and a soothing balm on eyes that have been repeatedly scarred by bad fic. Like I said, I'm not familiar with the film, but there were parts to this that smacked of movie. The lions, for example, was a part that not only confused me a bit, but felt like a film: unrealistic in a way that can be overlooked in a film, but less so in fiction. At least, in this context. As a whole, those parts kind of make me go, "Um, what?" The sections with them hunting was interesting, lending a bit of lightness to an otherwise dark situation, but felt strange to me. The contrast between these sections and the darker bits that the fic started out with was a little too strong for my taste, if you don't mind me saying so. As a result, the more emotional, introspective - albeit darker - parts lost some of their intensity. All that feeling, that intensity I felt as a reader kind of disappeared in the majority of the daylight scenes, which made the constant back and forth a little jarring. The characterization feels a little off at times, but I figure most of that is due to the AU-ness of the fic. I mean, hey, we're all going to act differently if we were thrown into an apocalypse. Just a note, though...to me, Brennan seems a little too soft, especially in comparison to Booth. That woman is tough and can kick **, and I see - I hope! - a hint of that woman emerging at the end of this chapter. Aside from that, I found this excellent. Like I said, it's been a long time since I've looked forward to updates on a fic. And I especially look forward to the darker moments that are, I have to say, definitely your strength. And although I know I'm probably the only one of your readers saying this, but...I'm hoping you'll undergo a complete change of heart and give us the kind of unhappy ending I revel in. Just a thought.
