iBounce 12/31/10 . chapter 1This one, I read, but didn't review because I was tired. I think your descriptions have SERIOUSLY, SERIOUSLY improved. I mean, in No Pity in her Heart, you have the deepest descriptions for the characters. I also think your storyline/endings have changed for the better, you've started to SHOW things instead of telling them. For example, in this fic, you told people sweeney was angry. In the last chapter of your latest update, you didn't say anything about emotions, but you could tell how Sweeney felt from his actions. I'll also be lurking your profile and stories to tell you how awesome you are, thanks. :3 |
JamesLuver 3/13/10 . chapter 1Beautiful. I love this alternate end. It's very plausable and poetic. I loved the way you had the lyrics throughout this; they really helped to set the tragic note for me. I also loved how you brought the 'what if' into the picture: many a time I've wondered if things would've been different if he'd known about Lucy from the start, but I agree with you; I don't think it would've made a difference to his thirst for revenge, and I adored the way he acknowledges that in his fic. The part with Toby was superbly done - it's very plausable that he would've stopped himself from killing Todd just to make sure he wouldn't turn out like him. I also really loved the image of him walking away from the horror and tragedy at the end, only for Mrs. Lovett to follow him, and as readers knowing that nothing would eradicate the images, especially for a man whose essence is made from never forgetting. I realise I've waffled on about nothing for too long now, so I will shut up and end it on the note that I absolutely adored this beautiful piece. |
AshleyInWriterland 3/7/10 . chapter 1I absolutely loved this ending! Hm, not sure if I like yours or the movie/musical's better...that's how much I liked this ending :D it's so...tragic. You did quite the good job. Still left the same feeling, just in a different way. And the other day I was thinking, "at least Johanna and Anthony got a happy ending..." but then it occured to me their ship might've goten into a serious accident. |
GuesssWho 4/22/08 . chapter 1 Good story, love. |
Ariadne'sThread 2/29/08 . chapter 1Nice, plausible ending. Not too fairy tale but a little bit less grim than the film. Not much less grim but still ;D. |
Lady Charity 2/5/08 . chapter 1Dang, that was both dark and haunting. Very interesting alternate ending, love. I like how you portrayed the characters, they're not OOC at all. Your description is of course wonderful, and I really enjoyed this. I especially like how Sweeney just disappears at the end and no one will know where he is... "He knew one thing: and that was that he was going, going far away, going someplace where they could not find him; where no one could find him; where he would know no one, not even himself." I absolutely adored that line. Dark and poetic to go to a place where even you don't know yourself. Wonderful job! |
BarnOwl93 1/12/08 . chapter 1So... the turning point from canon to this fanfic is this: Mrs. Lovett clings to his sleeve more tightly. XD Great stuff. Well, I thought it was lovely. :3 Toby sort of surprised me by speaking at all, but I guess since he's not to bright it all works out. Oh, and by the way, I couldn't help but crack up at the "stand outside the shop" part. XD Brilliant, and of a completely different mood than the rest of the story. And of COURSE she's going to follow you, Mr. Todd. You're her Lucy - her only thing left worth living for... D: |
Rumpleteaze 1/12/08 . chapter 1Plausable? Yes, I think it was, but I would have really liked to know perhaps more of where Toby went off to. Maybe you could do a sequal to this about him. Tha would be very cool. Nicely written though. |
niki-chan2 1/12/08 . chapter 1Very plausible alternate ending! Well done |
anbumoo 1/11/08 . chapter 1Aw.. This was... sad yet touching at the same time. I love the idea that Sweeney will be chased forever by what he's done, so, in that sense, I suppose it is plausible. However, personally, I don't think it could have ended any other way than him dying (as much as it pains me to say it), cause he's completed his... mission of killing the judge, so now he really doesn't have anything to live for. If... that makes any sense at all. - - Anyway, I like this, it was well-written. :3 Good job! |
DecisiveEmuVictory 1/11/08 . chapter 1I liked it. And it was plausible...sort of. Nice job. |
Little Mae 1/11/08 . chapter 1Loved the image at the end,of him walking away with whole concept that he can never escape...depressing and oh-so-sweeney job! |
Amazed 1/11/08 . chapter 1 Wow. It's a Sweeney Todd AU fanfic where he survives that isn't sickeningly sweet, horribly implausible, and absurdly OOC. Are objects still falling toward the ground? Is the speed of light still constant when it's traveling through one substance? Is the ratio of circumference over diameter still about 3.14159? I would question whether or not he would've cared what he'd done at that point-after all, he does immediately try to kill Mrs. Lovett, and that's after he sees Lucy, which is the closest he ever gets to a (second) epiphany. He's still homocidally insane at the end. |
