And, oddly, I wanna shout what a lucky woman she is to have both Ratchet and BARRICADE as choices! That Decepticon always did rock my socks--my favourite really. Fictional, but lucky... XD

I just HAVE to write it: You are genious. I was so moved by this story, I was so moved, I was crying. I've read the previous part and next one, but this one I like the most. Because it's about a great sacrafice and love.

OK, this story rocks! they need to make a movie all based on this! it may be too late for the second transformers, but the third still needs a plot! u still got time man, GO 4 IT! lol i love how u put Starscream and Alexis 2gether. your sense of background is incredible. although the gore and language is a little harsh, i think that if they made it into a movie, they would fix it. but other than that, it was the best story i have ever read! i would print it out and staple it into a book, but my mom doesn't want 2 waste any ink. but seriously, send this story to Hollywood and M.Bay and they will probably use it! i wanna see the movie version of this!:D I'm looking forward to the next story too.;)

PS: I'm serious, take my advice and have Hollywood review it and ask if they want to use it for the 3rd movie.

Wow.
An understatement for the sheer SCALE of this story, of course, but with the relationship dynamics established it’s really FASCINATING to see how the characters cope with such a large-scale crisis like this.
The coming of Unicron made for a particularly chilling threat for the characters to face, and you clearly went to great lengths to demonstrate just how dangerous he was; the scenes when Optimus and Alexis actually ENTERED Unicron’s body clearly demonstrated a great deal of thought in working out how to ‘upgrade’ Unicron to use contemporary effects rather than what he’d been in the original movie, and their final confrontation with him made for particularly chilling reading.
Outside the threat, the characters dynamics used in the story were also well thought-out; the Autobots’ human allies have grown comfortable and settled in their new lives, the Autobots themselves have settled into life on Earth fairly well, and the human/Cybertronian relationships have continued to develop in a believable manner (I might not have liked how FAST the relationships started, but the subsequent pairing was always interesting reading).
Plus, of course, the addition of Rose made for a rather interesting character, both on her own merit and in terms of how she affected the relationship dynamics of the other characters (Such as Mikaela trying to set her up with Ratchet or her and Alexis arguing over their relationship with their parents).
Plus, after the rapid pace with which I felt you developed the relationships between Jade and Skyfire or Alexis and Starscream in the last story, it was really rather refreshing to have a Cybertronian/Human relationship where you took your time to develop the bond between them; if anything, I was surprised Ratchet didn’t take things further than he did (Although his awkwardness around people probably didn’t helping matters on that front, when I think about it).
Still, at least their interaction so far makes it PRETTY clear Rose won’t be picking Barricade over Ratchet any time soon; the only thing Barricade seems capable of doing is being an arrogant jerk who destroys the other side and only works with the Autobots as long as it suits him, while Ratchet at least shows interest in Rose’s own hobbies, such as taking her and Mikaela to see “The Other Boleyn Girl”.
(He’s being a complete idiot about not TELLING her how he feels, of course, but hey; he’s a medic who’s spent most of his time working with tools to stick his comrades back together, it’s only natural that he’d have a BIT of trouble ‘relating’ to people in emotional matters)
Of course, your explanation about ‘spark partners’ at least went a significant way towards addressing my prior ‘complaints’ about the human/Cybertronian relationship you created in the last story; if the two partners already had a ‘connection’ like that between them long before they even MET each other, it only makes sense that they’d rapidly become close.
On the topic of human/Tranformer interaction, however, I think my favourite part in that regard was the brief conversation between Starscream and Judy before Optimus and Alexis left to destroy Unicron. Not only did it provide Judy with a VERY emotionally powerful scene, but it gave us an interesting opportunity to see how Starscream’s been changed by his interactions with the other Autobots, even if he wouldn’t like to actually admit it himself; the old Starscream would never have listened to a tale like THAT.
(Of course, his interactions with Rose made it clear that he’s still fundamentally a Decepticon for all that, but hey; every little thing, right?)
Of course, the action sequences were also well-written; Starscream’s aerial dogfight with Thundercracker was particularly enjoyable reading, although the grounded confrontations against the drones- particularly when the humans managed to do some damage to those things- were also good in their way.
And as for that moment when you had Skyfire and Jade defeat Blitzkrieg by tricking him into transforming into his tank form in mid-air…
Pure comic GOLD amid a VERY dramatic fight sequence; congratulations (It reminded me a bit of one of my favourite bits in the “Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” series, when a robot tank is tricked into destroying a high bridge while it’s actually ON the bridge in question)!
Then, of course, there was the epilogue…
Moving funeral, don’t get me wrong- I DO wish that one of the AUTOBOTS had died as well, to give it a sense of ‘balance’, but since I can’t pick which one I’d have ‘wanted’ to die it all works out-, but that bit with the surviving Decepticons at the end…
Hoo boy… the implications of that radio message are NOT pretty, to say the least.
Keep up the good work; I DEFINITELY can’t wait for more!

I'm feeling for Carlos's family right now. You captured and portrayed their grief very realisticly. My heart went out to them, and I hope that in time they will be able to come to terms with the loss of their dear son/brother. I hope that Lala can find her own peace as well.

I thought that using Rose's POV for the funeral services was definitely the right choice on your part. She would be feeling some kind of guilt (as many survivors do) for having lived where others have died. Bravo!

I am so sorry about the long hiatus with my R/R'ing. It's been a very..troublesome month. Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading "When We Dared the Dawn"! My goodness... this story is just incredibly awesome! I felt so sad while reading the funeral part, and seeing Rad's courage to remain calm upon his best friend's death make my heart ache badly. He was so mature and thoughtful. And Leiana acted so bravely at her dearest brother's funeral. She was only 14 years old, but she didn't whimper or cry her heart out hysterically in front of everyone. Such a considerate and brave girl.

It's been a long time to see some lovely scnenes of Starscream/Alexis. Hope to see more scenes of them in WWDTD, they'd been suffering most of the time in TDWHTH due to that damn Unicron... And the embrace scene of Ratchet and Rose in the church is very touching, I really love that part.

So Megatron is going to be the main villain in the next story? I can't wait to know what will happen to all the main characters in the last part of DC series...
