And of course Carter would be touched. The bit with Newkirk yoinking the chocolate bar was perfect, too. I love the other prisoners watching, knowing what's coming, but not saying anything. Very cute!

Seriously, all the elements we love are there, from Carter's kind heart to Newkirk's sleight of hand, that possible drama mixed with outrageous comedy. I loved Colonel Hogan's poignant one line. A high point was: “Oh, for the love of --” Newkirk muttered, tossing a pleading look heavenward. I could so see him doing just that as the others did their best to sympathize with Carter. Hogan, naturally is ready to move forward and consider it a lesson learned. Thanks for the chuckle. It warmed my heart on this very snowy day in Iowa.
