I think your story is simple, insightful and well characterised. I have often wondered what occurred between Buffy actually dying and the beginning of the next season and you have filled that void with a sensitive portrayal, believable characterisation and rational ideas as to the changes that occurred in all of those left behind, especially including Giles and Spike.

Bravo.

There are many lovely aspects of this chapter (Xander/Spike buddy bonding, Spike/Giles countrymen moment, Tara's innate understanding of Willow) but my favorite part has to be the Willow/Giles hug. I know that he's obviously a father-figure to Buffy because of the whole Slayer/Watcher thing, but he and Willow definitely have a similar bond, and it was nice to see that explored a bit.

i love your story! i there any chance of hearing how the meeting with angel went? that seems to be something that was glossed over in the series. it would be nice to see that flushed out a bit. update soon!

Lovely chapter. Very sad, but the emotion you present is pure and raw and all too realistic: "They had been fighting all manner of demons, monsters and hell gods for what seemed like forever, but this…. This was… real." I've never fought a demon or hell god, obviously, but that moment of truth when you figure out that an essential part of your life is forever changed...I can relate to that.

This is great!! I mean, it's really really sad and emotional and makes me feel bad inside b/c it's about Buffy dying and everyone being in pain about it, but you've written it so well! You've got the characters down to a tee--especially Willow, with her innocent spells clearly the unfortunate start to her magical addiction. I'm looking forward to whatever you have planned next!
