:O I thought this was about Sweeney! The ending is shocking and great. Really makes you think about his thoughts, his feelings, and why he might have done it! Again, your writing is magnificent!

This is an interesting and human view of Judge Turpin. I usually see him as the bastard that destroyed Benjamin Barker's life. To read a story where he actually loved Lucy--even if it's in a twisted way--and feel some love towards Johanna, because of a guilty conscious, and not just out of lust--really shows a different side of him. Great work!

You know, I've always had a soft spot for the judge. You really captured his character in this.

Creepy and oddly in character, I can see Turpin being crazy enough to think of Johanna as a "second chance". Good work!

When I started reading this I thought it was all about Sweeney, and I thought, okay, this is predictable enough, la la la, nothing special...

And then I read the last two paragraphs, and now I love you. The whole thing is so deliciously creepy, darling, I still have goosebumps...

I agree with you on Judge Turpin. He's certainly not sympathetic, but he is complicated. I always feel a little sorry for him when I hear "Ladies in Their Sensitivities" for thinking that Johanna could love him in that way. I also love the description of Lucy.

This story is awesome! I love how you wrote it. I like the idea how they can only remember Lucy as the dying person who drank the arsenic and not the one he loved. I also really like how you twisted the story to make it Judge Turpin's point of view and not Sweeney's. That was really unexpected, I thought it was Sweeney the whole time! Absolutely witty and beautiful. Hope you write more!

Heh, I thought this was from Todd's point of view at first... anyway, this was delightfully creepy! You got my sympathy. It's a very interesting feeling, being sympathetic to someone so disgusting. Although, I suppose it's hardly worse than feeling sympathy for Mr. Todd ^_^
