Not cringeworthy at all. Misunderstandings happen all the time, and unfortunately in this case it led to them breaking up. However, I was happy with Jack persisting when he found out the reason why Sam broke up with him. There are many great stories out there where they break up for one reason or another and Sam is the one that always has to get them back together. I felt a bit sorry for Jack in this story because of the break-up, but like their conversation in her hospital room where he countered every one of her potential future excuses. Sweet!

Not cringe-worthy at all. Very enjoyable with just the right amount of angst.

While it is a bit of a stretch for me to imagine Carter ending a relationship based on so little evidence, I can believe Carter would doubt herself so much given her previous romantic experiences.

Really good, love all the drama, extrememly well written. If i had to make a suggestion though, i think the break up at the beginning would have had a bigger impact if you had described their relationship, and the bliss when they were together. Which in turn, would have made it an even happier ending.

I think you have a very powerful story idea and some great writing! You've condensed a really big idea into a fairly short story however, and I think you're doing it a disservice, perhaps in a rush? I think if you were to take this idea and flesh it out, take it beyond where you have, you'd probably end up with a short novella, but it would do justice to the premise. Your dialogue is fantastic, your characters a little off-kilter in this one, not quite themselves, they bent to the plot more than perhaps they should have. Were you rushed? :)

Aww. You should do a sequel or another story where jacks sees sam and pete but it's not what it seems

Beautiful story.

Having read a lot of your previous work, I was surprised and more than a little pleased to see this story. It's far from cringeworthy :)

However, I was disappointed with how Jack was made to look like a bad guy in the middle part of the story merely because of Sam's severely misplaced mistrust. How Sam's behavior was excused and waved off because of Hansen was even worse. Jack is not Jonas; more importantly, Sam already knows this. And if she doesn't know that inside and out after 8 years (as you've made it appear), she'll never know better and Sam & Jack have a future bleaker than whether she'll walk again.

I did really enjoy this even after my heart broke in the beginning...those two are just to stubborn for words ;)
