Your title drew me into your story and I'm glad I stayed. I can completely understand Logan and Lydecker sharing their grief together. They both loved Max very much. Lydecker has an obvious respect for Logan and sees in him what he could have been. I think it was very appropriate that he wouldn't allow Logan to drink himself into oblivion. It was very touching to have Logan and Lydecker share stories about the women they loved. I would have loved to see even more of their conversation. Most of all I appreciated your final paragraph. These two unlikely allies have conquered death though they don't know it yet. And the Raven flew away. Beautiful story.

Very nicely written. I especially like the sentiment of creating Max to be stronger than his wife- able to fight back. It was a very interesting reason behind Lydeckers motivation. Will there be another chapter or is this a stand-alone piece. It works well either way.

This is something I've pictured in my own mind. I think Lydecker did have a kind of fatherly attitude toward Logan. I guess time will tell if that's true.
