Personally, I think Lacroix should have had Nick killed in a very public place, (though not permanently,) so he would have no choice but to leave behind the life which would end up killing both himself and Jeanette. But then... as Armand found out in Interview with a Vampire, tragedy lends a shadow of life to a vampire, but once one has overdosed on it...

Hi! I've just read this story and have to say: I love it very much. You get the characters of LaCroix and Nick perfectly, and I like the 'corrected' ending, too. The only part I did not like was that one:

'"LaCroix chuckled, “You whine too much Nicholas, you always have and it’s tiresome. Would you rather have killed her, have me drive a stake through your heart as the writers had planned? This way everyone wins, the fans have what they want, I have what I want and you certainly have what you’ve wanted, plus we got to fuck over the producers. What’s the down side?”'

Ah, you *had* to break the mood here and make a reference that it is just a fanfiction story? Up until that point, I was perfectly caught, and then that. I think the impact of the story would have been stronger if you had left out that ironical step out of the plane of the fictional universe to the plane of the show. I would have preferred it if you had kept the illusion.

But all in all, I think this end for the show works better than the canonical ending. Much better!
