I really enjoyed this, definitely my favourite chapter so far!
Chick's dream sequence was really well described, and I thought it was clever that you used it to show what Chick thinks other cars' attitudes are to him. Oh and I especially liked the small bit of interaction between he and Lightning at the end.

Well, done. I love people who play with Chick in something but an evil light. I mean, yes he is somewhat of an aft, but that's why we all love him! Glad you managed to capture that so well in this story. It makes me grin with him trying to hide his softy side.

Anyway, I'm glad you are heading in this direction, there's nothing like helpless and paranoid to win a reader's heart when it comes to one of their favorite characters. Though, if I may make a suggestion. I feel that this is going to end with him being stuck in Radiator Springs ... but grateful. I totally think that you should drag out Chick's paranoia about The King or Lightning trying to kill him though ... paranoid enough to say ... make an escape attempt?

That's just what I want to see, I don't expect you to change your plot in any way. I just can't help it, I want Chick to panic like a lost child. XD

Anyway, the other thing that I thought was interesting about this story is it's Brother fic. It was nice that I didn't have to read the first two chapters. I'm still working on finishing that though, I'll give you a review when I finish it.

Yes ma'am, more of that style. It flows, too, which is really great - you touch on a lot of emotions and draw them forth just enough. The vision, or dream rather, that Chick has and the voices he hears... beautiful; I see so much. I was scared that Chick felt the heat from the cliff below - it feels so inevitable. A looming fear.

Mhmm - gotta love the sirens in the distance. I couldn't help but laugh at "he hoped the old Hudson Hornet wouldn't hold a grudge". I also, for some reason or another, love the thought of "horror mingled with sympathy" - it brings out feelings that I can only reach reading your work.

You're a fantastic writer and I'm enjoying this different path greatly. Now I'm filled with the anticipation of Chick's survival, and whether or not this misunderstanding will be cleared!

I've got an interesting take on this story after I read Robert Frost's version on Monday.

Dang I love your style...

While I thoroughly enjoyed Sic Transit Hicks and the depths it reached, I'm finding this "other road" a great relief - Chick's change of heart brings out the character that I always thought he might be portrayed as if he had a bigger part in the movie. I grinned at "And then he stopped" although I knew it was coming - but it was after that sentence which really had me happy; somehow I always figured he'd have a soft spot and care more than he really shows. I like how you wrote Chick's emotions after what he almost did and how he started to curse the awful situation.

I was VERY surprised at the brutality Cable and his posse inflicted on Chick. You wrote the fight scene (if I could call it that) clearly and I could feel the helplessness of our favorite green machine. The sections where Chick begins to fade are my favorite - I get chills reading over them because I love them that much.

I adore both sides of Chick that you've written! Well done! I'm on to chapter three...

Wow I love it! It had sort of a surreal feeling to it. I also like how you pulled part of the first story into this alternate version with the lake of fire and even the corn fields. Which were creepy by the way. I really like how well it's written. Keep it up! Looking forward to more! I gotta know what happens. Rock on!

Why'd you have to leave it there? I want to know what happens to Chick! That was a really gripping chapter.

Oh no, poor Chick! I normally don't like him, but when people write him nice like you did in this chapter, all that changes.

Wow; another story with a different side on Chick making the right decision not to destroy the king, despite his bad feelings toward him. I hope he gets help in time.

Wow this is looking interesting! I am much preferring this take than your other version, not to say I didn't like Sic Transit Hicks but I just think this is much more IC for Chick, since I don't believe he is so cold hearted as he likes to make others think. Just a rough exterior ;) Anyway I am really enjoying your writing on Chick's attack, some dramatic stuff! And the dialogue between Chick and Mater I found rather amusing, the way he was saying "you want to apologise..." for a moment I thought you would list off all the other cars Chick needed to apologise to through Mater! xD keep this up, I look forward to more!

Wow, you managed to make me sympathetic to a rather unlikable character. A good reminder that the world needs more mercy and understanding. It was so great to see Chick thinking along this vein, as opposed to the other story. I hope this is not the end for him!
