This was a sad sort of prompt. I wonder if these two will ever get their act together with each other.

Well, this highlights the 'what could have been' factor of the show. Just another scenario we'll probably be cheated out of by the writers. I swear, they must live to frustrate us.
It's a sweet scene on the surface, but I can empathize with how Jack is feeling. At least Claire's mom had enough sense to kick Christian out of her life. Too bad Jack's mom didn't do that as well. Of course, I don't think much of Jack's mom either.

You know, I had such high hopes for a Jack/Des friendship when they brought Des back onto the show. Don't get me wrong, I like Des with Charlie. But the first connection that was made, was with Desmond and they took that away. Of course, on the other hand, if they'd left Jack with Des, it might have been Jack that Des was having visions of dying. And that would have been very, very bad...
Anyway, it's nice to see a Jack/Des pairing. Good job!
