This is devastating. I love the many undercurrents and subtexts to everything they say and do. Somehow this AU of yours is so very sad. Teyla seems so much more...resigned and John more defeated. It makes them working together in canon seem all the more significant and important, as if their bond is crucial to the fight against their enemies and each other's happiness.
