Yay! I'm so happy I found your story again! I read it a long time ago and it has become THE story by which I judge all other Luke-angst stories. I love how you switch between current happenings with Leia and Chewie and past remembrances with Ben - it seems effortless and SO easy to understand (very hard for an author to accomplish!). And Chewie calling Luke "cub" is one of my favorite parts. The best part is the confused whirling of emotions - no one clear feeling - that Luke has; I really don't see how he could have been so calm and composed at the end of ESB. Again, so glad I found it again and huge kudos!

that was really excellent! It was cool how you showed ecerything that was going on inside Luke, and not just inside his head, or outside.

I LOVE THIS STORY! I've loved it for years - it was one of the first SW ff's I ever read. I love how you get to the emotional side of the story - the angst! - something that we only see in one brief scream in the movie. The back-and-forth hopping from present to past, Luke's POV to Leia's POV really help move the story along in terms of pace and evoke the madness that Luke suffers. Granted, most people think "the hero of the Rebellion" would have handled the news a little more rationally, but I think he's entitled to go temporarily nuts.

I also like how you bring Chewie in as a more important character. So often he's depicted like a tagalong golden retriever with no discernable feelings; here, he's a being with more understanding than the main characters, offering sympathy, hope and mild parental discipline to the others (which his many years of experience would suggest he do).

I like the Luke/Obi-Wan. I like the story, at a few parts it was hard for me to discern whether it was actually happening or fictional.

But that is part of the charm of the story, the fervor, and passion.

You've just made my dad with these Star Wars stories. This missing moment seems like it was originally part of the movie, but got left in the cutting room floor. You've got a wonderful talent for characterization by showing not telling. I especially love your take on Ben and Luke.

Congrats again. Another superbly written emotion packed story. Sigh, my favorite kind! Poor Luke, a helpless victim of circumstances again. Good thing he is strong in the force or it would kill him-all he goes thru emotionally if nothing else. If you haven't read Mina's "About Turn" (I think it was Mina) and another fic entitled "Caught" I think you would like them..not sure off hand who wrote Caught-just do a search. Who knows maybe it would inspire you to write some more Star Wars.

I really liked the story, it's up there with "Interlude."

Favourite lines:

"the swirling cauldron of dread" - I love the imagery

"Cold fury tinged her words and her jaw clenched as she thought of Han, of Alderaan . . ." - I can really imagine Leia being more angry than sad about all that had happened to her up to this point.

"Inside in that warm bright place Ben showed me and Yoda opened wide." - The is my favouritest, a perfect way to describe the force.

My only suggestion is to go back and HTML code in the italic tags so that you can get rid of the asterixes. :)
