The inner torment of Stephen the diamond in the rough. So glad, that Stephen found peace and the loving embrace of family. Amazing piece.
Jan Lee 2008-04-21 ch 4,	abuseThat was so lovely! I kinda had a feeling Stephen was going to die at the end of this...he was tormented too much to continue on without his family. I'm so glad, though, that he didn't leave his family to die like Don did in 28 Weeks Later...that just pissed me off, even though I understood why. Also, I'm happy you didn't let him use the pistol to kill himself off. The heart attack was significant, whether you intended it to be or not, because it was his heart that was hurting the entire time. Additionally, you took pity on Stephen because you sent him to 'heaven' and you went full circle with Eric and his love. This was an extremely well written story, and I'm so pleased that you've shared it. ~JL PS You almost made me cry...grr!
Jan Lee 2008-03-05 ch 3,	abuseHey! Great chapter. I love how you juxtaposed Eric's story with Stephen's, and the interaction between two disparate men was extemely realistic. How Stephen is going crazy because of what he can and can't remember about his family is so cleverly written. You also have deft descriptions and wonderful verbage. I really enjoy how Stephen sort of floats in and out of reality. His emotions seem real, and you've done a terrific job of making me care about the character. Please keep writing this story. It is very rarely I find an author who can write about other characters as well as you do. There were a couple of errors (very few, in fact) that I noticed, but I'm not going to bother you with them here. If you want to know, send me off a PM, and I'll list them for you. You do a wonderful job of interchanging Stephen's thoughts with memories and realities. I'm hooked. I hope you write another chapter for this.
