| myinuyasha04 2008-10-04 ch 18, | abuseAh, I am unbelievably satisfied! My best friend and I always wanted Katara to end up with Zuko (he's definitely the best part about Avatar) and all of your stories completely fill that 'Zutara' need for me! I've read a lot of Katara/Zuko fanfics and honestly, this is the best! |
| kurokinshiro 2008-10-03 ch 18, | abuseWhat *absolutely* marvelous fanfic! I think "Stormbenders" is my over-all favorite Avatar multi-chaptered fic. Great in-character cast, great plot, great language. You're like Zuko in your "Chores" series--is there anything you can't do? :) First off, the idea of 'stormbending' is a great metaphor. Working side by side, two elements combined is so fitting for Zuko and Katara. Secondly, I like the build-up you did for the pair in the story--just the right pacing, not forced at all. Thirdly, where do you get these great scenarios? Favorites include their settling in at the Oyster District (Oh clueless, clueless Katara; Iroh must have been matchmaking on the side). That scene when they observed the wedding procession? Exquisite. The escapade in Ozai's chambers had me laughing incredulously, as did the appearance of the singing nomads (you *just* had to inflict "Secret Tunnel" on Ozai and Azula...). The admission of feelings in Zuko's room was lovely--turned me to goo. I also liked the bits about the wedding robes fitting, Katara's wedding breakfast and the wedding itself. Having dragons--dragons!--show up was a great bonus. Fourth, I like the way you weaved customs and traditions into the story, little details which add to the tone and mood, and sometimes are of great significance to the plot. There was just one thing which left me a bit unsatisfied: I had no idea how Aang went from lovelorn to accepting. I would have liked some insight into how this happened. I'm supposing that this is because the POV of the story is mainly Katara's, and whatever happened occurred 'off-screen.' Anyway, congratulations on finishing your fantastic story, and thanks for sharing it with us! I hope to see more Zutara in the future. :) kurokinshiro P.S. I just noticed that my faves listed a lot about weddings.:P |

| zutarakid50 2008-10-01 ch 18, | abuseLetters, huh? Cool. They would keep in touch by letters. And I will say right now; VERY VERY VERY super awesome mega last line. Same old Zuko. XD I liked this story SO much that I'm gonna find more of your stuff to read! Thanks for sharing such an eye opening story with me and other Avatar fans. You have a gift I wish I had and I mind that is so original, I can't help but be a little jelous. Again, great story and the last AN clear alot of this up. Until next time! :) |
| zutarakid50 2008-10-01 ch 17, | abuseEPIC BATTLE! VERY nice battle scene. And then peace, what an ending to a EPIC story. I wish I could write as well as you :( This was such a great story (long chapterd but great!) And I really enjoyed reading it! See you in the epilogue! ;) |
| delfy 2008-09-24 ch 18, | abuselet me just say: Oh My God. this story is a really great take on Avatar and I really enjoyed reading it! I thought your take on Aang was very good -- him going mental at Zuko and Katara, etc. and you're innuendos made me laugh! Thanks for sharing it! *runs off the look at the fanart* |
| MichiRini 2008-09-24 ch 18, | abuseIn your afterword, you wrote: "For me, Aang is not the hero of ATLA. Zuko is. Zuko is the one who has change and growth and development. Conversely, all of Aang’s views get validated and he doesn’t have to change his ways at all – he gets his druthers and never has to make a decision that might sacrifice his personality or identity. He remains insulated from the world and its problems, and rewarded for his weakness. Does he defeat the Fire Lord? Yes. But does he conquer any of his inner demons? No. And it’s sad, because while the others have grown up, he has not. He is Peter Pan, and the Lion-Turtle’s back is his Neverland." I definitely agree that Zuko is the most amazingly developed character of the entire series because of all that he has gone through and all of the ways in which he changes throughout the series, but I think the fact that Aang never changes and takes on a sort of "Peter Pan" role (as you pointed out) was intentional, meant to point out that you don't have to alter yourself to change the world. I think that Aang was always the hero, but I think Zuko served mainly as his foil: whereas Aang is obviously a quick learner -- especially in regards to bending -- Zuko takes longer to learn his lessons, whether they are lessons in bending or in life, and he makes plenty of mistakes along the way. My one huge admiration of Zuko is that he is the proof to child fans everywhere that very few "bad guys" ever see themselves as "bad" because they have their own situation that might provoke, or even necessitate, their actions. Zuko first appears in ATLA as a definite antagonist, but as we learn more about his history and watch him take his destiny in his own hands, he becomes a character that almost everyone can relate to. Part of me agrees that it is sad that Aang never matured (it is part of the reason I never supported the Kataang ship: Aang never seemed to me to be a realistic character, except for in some episodes, so I didn't have as much of a grasp on him as I did on Zuko, and I have always been a supporter of the couples-need-to-complement-each-others'-personalities thing), because, as a writer, it disappoints me that his character was never developed in that way; but when you phrase it as his being something of a Peter Pan... Well, the point of Barrie's play WAS to express a desire to remain children, or childlike, forever, wasn't it? Maybe Mike and Bryan had the same intentions? idk. Just some thoughts I'm having at this early hour of the morning when I should be sleeping. In regards to all of the innuendo and sexual tension present in this fic, it kind of disappoints me. In Ozai's Vengeance it was more than understandable, since the characters were so much older and mature (this last one more in regards to Katara than to Zuko), and since the conflicts in Ozai's Vengeance were not quite as... immediately threatening to their own persons, as well as those of others?... the plot allowed for more of that sort of thing. However, in Stormbenders, the situation does not seem to allow for such interactions. Being a teenager, I know that there is a lot of innuendo and sexual tension present whenever my friends and I interact, be it in person or over some form of technological medium, but I can't imagine any of us really taking anything of this nature seriously, or into consideration at all, if we should ever find ourselves in the positions you put Zuko and Katara. Maybe every so often, yes, but the innuendo and sexual tension (I'm using these phrases way too often...) pops up so frequently in this fic that I can't help but think that if I had been in Katara's place, I would have eventually yelled at Zuko to get his mind out of the gutter; or if I had been Zuko, I would have eventually sat Katara down and had the longest sex talk of her life, explaining the various metaphors and word combinations that are and are not allowed in conversation around me until we were in a much more appropriate situation for such conversation. Granted, I did enjoy Katara's naivete, but if I were Zuko, I don't think I could have handled it. I also think that Azula might have been just a tad too gullible in this fic... But then, that's what you get when the creators decide to god-mod their antagonists. Other than all of this, I think it is a really wonderful story. The only reason why I came out with everything I hate is because I sort of take this approach of expecting every story I read to be absolutely, 100% perfect in all aspects, and this causes all of the faults to magnify themselves until they're all I can talk about. I do this with movies a lot, too; my mom hardly believes it's possible for me to truly enjoy a movie without picking it apart. But just know that, aside from everything else I mentioned in this fic, and aside from some random typos that sort of jerked me out of the story for a little bit, the ride was great. And now I'm going to try to get some sleep before my first class starts in five hours. I reserve the right to retract any of these sleep-deprived statements if I come back later to discover just by how much I have lost my mind in reading this story at such a late hour. Remember to contact me with information if you ever manage to get an original story published! |
| Kittie1 2008-09-22 ch 18, | abuseSo it took me two days...and to think of some good music to listen to while reading this... BRILLAINT! Thats the only word to summarize it! You did a fantastic job, and I'm looking foreward to reading more of you're work. You've got everyones personalities under your thumb and you know it! It kept me on the edge of my seat! (And the pic from Deviant art was what got me hooked!) |
| vinh 2008-09-18 ch 18, | abuseThat was lovely. I'm glad that I'm not the only person who annoyed that Aang chose an attachment to a girl rather than letting her go to save her and the world. To be honest I always thought Zuko: The Fire Prince would have been more interesting to watch. |
| Toph13139 2008-09-18 ch 18, | abuseWow... I haven't read this fanfic yet, but I know I'm going to start to. You're far the most talented writer in this site, and your stories truly are always interesting. You can make the reader feel like if he's on the very place that the story is taking place on. Yo have an amazing imagination and your story are always original and romantic. I wonder if you want to work this out? You're a very talented writer, any book you write in the future, I promise I'll be the first one to buy it. But I'm guessing you're doing this just for fun? (If that sounded like... If I want to hire you, just let me tell you I'm just 13... xD) Oh and I'm so glad that you're zutarian too... Keep the good work. (You always do) |
| BlackWingsRainbowTips 2008-09-17 ch 14, | abuseI dont know why but I havent reviewed this story yet. But I gotta say, wow. 2009th review. There is loads of fanart for this story. And I totally understand why. This is one of the best fics on this site. I wish that you wrote for the show. I cant picture everything so clearly when I read it. I'm almost done, and I am a bit sad about that. But Azula can only continue for so long. This story is epic. And I almostnever say that. You've written a real quality fanfiction here. Best of luck to you! ~Jayy |
| Panda-Peach 2008-09-14 ch 1, | abuseYay! I loved this! *runs off to read the next chapter* |
| Spazzfreeks 2008-09-12 ch 1, | abuseThis is my favorite Zutara Fanfiction ever. ^^ |
