L J Groundwater 2008-07-10 . chapter 6So glad to see this story back. You make your characters come alive and I really enjoy that.
Dottie is fleshing out really well, and I'm loving her.
Looking forward to more! |
 exiled-druid 2008-07-10 . chapter 3nice story.
i may have missed this, but are you going to contenue into the show it's self, or are you going to stop as soon as he enters stalag 13? if neither, are you going to skip the show and contenue after the war? |
Kits 2008-06-20 . chapter 5 Oh, Syl, this is marvelous!
It's a perfectly different story type than most, with recognizable characters and it's just unique enough without veering into AU. I love how you're tackling something entirely different than what other fanfics focus on. It's wonderfully intriguing.
And you've done such a great job with the setting. It feels real, so that there are a ton of little nuances that let me seep in and really feel as if I'm in 1940s New York. It's such a visual thing that I feel as if I'm watching a movie, not reading a fanfic. Without ever going overboard, you've painted just enough outline that my imagination can fill in the rest.
The storyline--you keep ending it on cliff hangers and here I find another one.
I can hardly wait for you to update!
Cheers,
Kits |
Tracey Claybon 2008-04-27 . chapter 5I was hoping all of the good guys would come out of this okay - but just like in real life, it doesn't always happen... I am still enjoying this story and appreciate you writing it. Excellent as always!

Albert Baker 2008-04-12 . chapter 5Syl--I was just surfing through the stories and found this. I'm so glad you went ahead with this. It's as wonderful as I knew it would be! Bravo! --AB/Claudia |
El Gringo Loco 2008-04-05 . chapter 5Having grown up on the old serials I like cliffhangers. And this chapter ends in a classic. Two young men, headed in opposite directions. The fallen, but confused and all bad girl in a real fix. And hopefully the hero coming in to save the day. For Buddy, it's too late. Cold blooded murder often meant the hot seat in those days. Kinch of course went off to war. And presumably on with his life afterwards.
But Dottie/Dorothea is at a crossroads. Torn between the grasp of good and evil. I wonder will she survive. And if so, how and what will become of her should she shake the Baxter's yoke?
It has been often said that "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." I don't know who coined the phrase as it's been atributed to many. But to my mind it's true, and appears to be a central theme of this work. I am enjoying it immensely. And can in many ways identify with the author's portrayal of Kinch the character. I look forward to seeing it continued and reading more of this author's work |
CarterfanHH 2008-04-03 . chapter 2 Actually, the show is not clear on Kinch's name. In the episode "Is General Hammerschlag Burning?" he's refered to as Ivan, while in "Request Permission to Escape" he's refered to as James. So, I think that either is valid for fanfics.
BTW, good story. I'm not always crazy about solo-Hero stories, but this is good. |
Robin 2008-04-02 . chapter 3 Great story, small continuity problem. Kinch's first name is Ivan. |
Linda 2008-04-02 . chapter 5 That had better be buddy. Or maybe Kinch, but I doubt it's him.
I'm worried about Dottie because I like her. Is Kinch going to join the service to get away from these frightening people?? |
 Harm Marie 2008-04-01 . chapter 5Very thrilling. |
Tracey Claybon 2008-03-29 . chapter 4Looking forward to seeing the "raid" on the Freemans, and I really liked the interlude with Dottie. Wonderful as usual, from you. I always enjoy reading your work.
