Good idea about the origins of the Gai/Kakashi rivalry esp. about Obito and Gai's friendship - shows creative thought there. Another one shot would be nice. Perhaps about the other jounin? Asuma, Kurenai or Rin?

Great job here. I like how Gai's and Kakashi's wierd friendship grows out of the tragedy of Obito's death.

That was precious :). It was a sweet story with good characterization. It's not often we see Gai featured in stories as thoughtful as this that still remain true to his character. Keep up the excellent work!

I'm glad someone finally suggested Obito as a direct cause behind Gai starting the rivalry...not just in memory of a friend _Kakashi_ lost, but because _Gai_ lost Obito as well. It's a theory for the rivalry's beginning that I've always liked. ^_^ Very nicely done here! I really liked the characterization, Obito's especially: his concern and care and attention to others comes through nicely. And Gai makes a great kid, as I'd imagine him.
