Interesting take on the whole thing.

the unsung camaraderie between L and Soichiro was brilliant. definitely an idea which should be better explored in fanfiction.
you painted a wonderful image of Soichiro, especially the not clueless bit. the man was Cheif of the NPA. of course he knows things. and his denial and self doubts were handled perfectly.

Oh... wow.

For me, Death Note is such a tragic story because the entire thing is one instance after another of Kira hurting people and destroying their lives. The thing is, it's usually people who care about him, or with whom he could have formed some sort of relationship. This fic captures that beautifully. Soichiro's PoV is really well-done. It's a hard perspective to come by, and you executed it brilliantly. His perception of L's and Raito's relationship added another layer to the Kira-eats-people thing I was talking about earlier, and also broke me into little tiny pieces with the quiet hopelessness of it.

So basically... you are amazing, and I'm going to go cry for L now.

this makes me really sad, and kinda irritated, with all the denial and self-preaching Soichiro does in here, but i can defiantly see it happening, which makes me even more sad. i caught onto to his last words too, and the way he's always rebuking L, bcuz if he wasn't suspicious, then why would he feel the need to repeatedly deny L's claim that Light's Kira?

Ah, I like that idea. I think my favourite sentence was the
poetic use of "waltz" - but all the others developed in a
interesting sort of fic. As I was reading, I found myself
trying to guess what the premier challenge was. I think I
figured it out ~smirks like L~

I have something random to mention. I was in church and
the lesson was about dating. The guy made a comment like,
"Light can't be with darkness." and I giggled, thinking, of
course, of only the translation of Raito's name. Even better
was when he said "Light is God"... but I really can't remember
the context. I still giggle however.

Thank you for writing from his POV. I personally think Soichirou is a wonderful character, but he's so under appreciated.

One thing I really admire from you is your characterization. You are able to think in their heads, which not many people are able to pull off.

This is the first fiction I've read that was from Soichiro's point of view, and it was brilliant.
I like to think that Soichiro saw something in his son when Raito became Kira, that he really loved him so much that he saw the change.
And wow, most of what you wrote makes a ton of sense, even without the LxRaito. Would Raito ever marry? Would he really even spare Misa the time of day?
