This is such an amazing story, really original, and sweet! It's such a cool idea that they have such a strong connection, and the guys stay in character all the way through. Definitely going on my favourites list!

Way cool! Really love the telepathy and the sharing of strength/healing. You HAVE to do sequels!!

Oh, I love this! It's so difficult to show the love without slipping into sentimentality, but you managed to walk the fine line throughout. the incredulity of the doctors, Dobey, all concerned made it easier to slip into believing. I especially liked the little glimpse of Dobery at the end:

“I seem to spend all my time waiting. Waiting for results from stakeouts, waiting to see cases solved and criminals behind bars...” He trailed off briefly, and then continued in a softer tone. “Waiting to hear from the officers that I've sent into danger, only to find out that someone was shot or injured... waiting to see if they're gonna be okay...” His voice dropped even lower, and he seemed to have forgotten that Huggy was there. “Waiting for the doctors to tell me that my partner's dead...”

Aw. I love the way his voice gets lower (kudos for the elegant variation in using 'softer' in the first transition and 'lower' in the second) and the last "Waiting for the doctors to tell me that my partner's dead..." is heartbreaking. really lovely. thank you so much for this.

This was a different premise for a story...but maybe not so unexpected. I do believe that people receive strength from people they love in times of hurt/stress/etc.

There is a connection. Your take on "Starsky and Hutch" was...uh stronger than the regular kind! GRIN!
