Wow. Brilliant! Powerful writing. I love this in-depth venture into Ali's twisted mind and his thoughts of Soran and war. This is just full of poignant irony and despite being completely demented, there is a logic to Ali that one might no agree with but can understand. I've asked why he could be like this myself while watching the anime, and this fits in so well as an answer. I was enraptured from the beginning.

Wow, just wow. Excellent philosophy and rhetoric here, I mean, you nailed how someone like Ali would think. I actually am quite pleased with the relationship that you've shown here between them. It seems fitting for how their emotions play out in the series. Soran's descriptions, as per Ali, were also quite on target. I would hate to see Setsuna become like Ali because of his death but... while Setsuna could become a 'warmonger' or consumed by war (as we've seen he is-- he doesn't know how to do anything other than fight) I don't think he'd ever really become someone like Ali, precisely because of what Ali did to him (the betraying part). But, it would be just like Ali to believe that Setsuna would become just like him, because they do have these... characteristics of hunger and hopelessness in the world. I'm happy that Setsuna's getting over those though. I thought it was excellent that he was afraid of Setsuna's eyes. It's ironic, because he says he sees himself in Soran, but ... at the same time he's afraid of him. Guh. How did I now know you had this fic here? Man. This really was extremely powerful-- both in explaining Setsuna and Ali's relationship (it irks me, even though it is so him, that he thinks of himself as a god of sorts. His own god, obviously, but... man. I hated that part where he just blatantly talks about deceiving the kids and all that, but then I was kinda heartwarmed at the fact that he kinda did grow to like them/miss them at one point. But he still abandoned them, and that's unforgivable in my book), and explaining his views on war and why he does it.

'Evil' people (for lack of a better word) justify themselves by saying they're being honest with themselves, because everyone else is just too weak or afraid to act on the things they think. Despicable. *bashes Ali* You made me dislike him more. :)

i love you so much for writing this. seriously, i have no words. I love the self-reflection, you have Ali down spot on, because he might be a warmonger, but he sure as hell ain't stupid, and since he analyses everything and everyone around him, he must have analysed himself, too.

The god- metaphor, running all through the story was beautiful, well played out and balanced. you even managed to avoid the horrible cliches that are the usual side product of going into religious rhetoric. My fave part was the idea of a god, creating man so he could one day be killed by his creation. You did the driving force of vengeance way better than masashi kishimoto could in his wildest dreams.

thank you for this

I love when stories are pimped out on 4chan because they usually turn out to be good. Even though I don't think Ali ever bad touched Setsuna, I still enjoyed reading this. It was creepy and very in character.
