Reviews for On the Wings of the Storm
Deandra 3/6/10 . chapter 17
I thought I had reviewed all the chapters of this, but in perusing the reviews I found that wasn't so. Which means I can add one more thing. I thought I had included it in a review, but maybe I just put it in an email to you at the time. It's along about the time of the battle of Helm's Deep and going forward that we begin to see Lothiriel thinking in terms of "us", including herself with the Rohirrim. She doesn't even appear conscious that she has already made this place and these people her home, but it has gradually come upon her. When she feels so disconnected later on, in Minas Tirith - and wondering if it will be different in Dol Amroth, we readily understand that she has left her past behind. She is destined for Rohan now and likely nothing can change that.

Just another of those lovely subtle details that make this story so special.

Sorry for being anonymous but some stories just warrant more than a single review!

I just finished rereading this story (I had forgotten this was the one where Lothiriel threatened to abduct him in order to marry him, though you may have mentioned it). So many lovely details in it. One of the things that especially struck me this time through was Felarof. The books and the movie never really give us a sense of WHY Eomer and Eowyn love King Theoden so dearly. He is their uncle, yes, and they were raised in his household, but had he merely taken them in and then had them raised by servants under his roof, there wouldn't like be the depth of feeling there. This tiny little episode, in which Eomer details running away and Theoden following, then spending time teaching to whittle while they talked, speaks volumes to how the strong bond came about. Even though we don't see something similar taking place with Eowyn, we can well believe he reached out to her as well.

At any rate, I'm sure this is one I'll reread again and again, like many of the favorite books on my shelves!

A smooth blending of the actual LOR plot with this love story. I enjoyed reading this fic as I do with all of your work. Great prose as usual

This story is magnificent. I adored every chapter of it.

More fine work. I like the way you demonstrate Lothiriel's impressions of the Riddermark by her interactions with its people. This is quality stuff!

Niggle:

As my eyes adjusted to the gloom I perceived rows of pillars marching away from us, holding up the roof WHICH WAS lost in the shadows above.

This came recommended by Virtuella. What an excellent fic it is! You've got me hooked on the brewing romance between Eomer and Lothiriel, the culture clash and the deep research you have obviously done to make this as believable as possible.

Fantastic stuff!

Niggle:

But then he should have known better THAN to send me instead of Elphir, the diplomat of the family!

W-O-W! Honestly, this is one of the best Eomer fanfic I have read! More please! A really long one! :)

For a long time, I was hesitant to read Lord of the Rings stories online. I was afraid that most people would butcher my favorite book of all time, but then I came across this and was proven completely wrong. I didn't review each chapter because if we're being honest, I was in such a rush to get to the next one I didn't want to pause in between. :) In short, it was amazing. The characterization, the plot line, the twists in between. I was hooked from the beginning, and it only got better from there. You are a truly talented writer...a few times I had to remind myself that what I was reading was online and not in a novel. So, brilliant job! I'm sad that I finished reading so fast, but I know that I will certainly be coming back to re-read, or try another one of your stories!

What an incredible story ! I really enjoyed having Lothiriel in Rohan. And my favorite scene is the one with the word-play. Absolutely wonderful.

I really hope you will write another Lothiriel/Eomer story ! Anyway, it was wonderful, thank you so much for the hours of enjoyment it gave me.
Mariagoner 6/15/09 . chapter 31
This was absolutely wonderfully written and you managed to take two characters I barely ever gave a thought toward and made me deeply, deeply believe in them and their love story. Your Lothíriel was a wonder and so far from being a Mary Sue it was extraordinary. Terrific job!
R 5/22/09 . chapter 31
I loved this story! :) I was just wondering... Could you consider writing the same story from Eomer's perspective? Like how he feels when he meets her the first time, when he gets the letter that summons the council to discuss the marriage between Theoden and Lothlorien.. AND what he thought when he made his moves on her.! 3

poor lothiriel. i'd've strangled all of the men in her life. they're so hovery and annoying. but i really liked her.

and eomer xD

keep writing, especially lothiriel/eomer stories. there are so few good ones out there-this story is the one that got me interested though!

keep writing xD
