I agree with Three-eyed-squirrel and Sugary, it is extremely poignant and that last sentence just brings one close to tears. The reminiscence of the day they were born, too, is a very emotionally powerful idea.
I like the way Atrus adresses both his sons, too- for me you captured perfectly the way he would think of this.

Dude, why wouldn't I favorite this? You know it has like, all my favorite things in it XD What a most excellent piece of tragedy, and that "no parent" quote even moreso. "And the first raindrop fell on Myst Island" is such a perfect and poignant way to end it, esp. knowing the eventual state of the island in EoA.
