This was so, so cute! You know I'm a sucker for Joe interacting with children, and this fulfilled my craving in spades! And I really like that you had Iola married to Joe in this -- sure, it could never happen in canon because of Iola's fate, but that's the great thing about fanfiction -- anything is possible. Wonderfully adorable story!

I liked that you used Iola instead of Vanessa as Joe's wife. No real reason, I suppose, except that Iola is usually only used as an angst-factor for Joe, so it's nice to see her get a happy ending once in a while.

I like the title that you chose. It fits perfectly. My favorite part was when Iola walks into the room: "When she arrived, Joe was standing still in the middle of the room, wearing a too-small cowboy hat, and clutching a child’s pirate map in his hands. He was wearing a toy necklace and earrings, but Iola didn’t have time to ask about that."

I literally laughed out loud at that part! What a way to picture the tough, crime-busting, (former) ladies man Joe Hardy! Kayla sounds totally adorable.

Thanks for sharing this! It was really cute and I enjoyed it. Only one important question: Who is Kayla's mother?? Hmm...
