LOL I was expecting Blue's wolf form to come out in this chapter, so imagine my disappointment when she didn't. I take it you're saving their wolf forms for later... but how much later??

Snodin 2008-09-09 ch 32,	abuse...Oh my God, I've caught up! O.O No, seriously. I've caught up in one night. Not that it was too difficult; the chapters are relatively small. But that's good, especially since you're in a "novel mode," unlike me. See, I don't seperate the scenes like you do; I treat each chapter of my stories as if they were episodes of the TV series they're based on. But anyway, my point is that I admire your style of chaptering... Is chaptering a word? I guess it is now. Okay, certain things bug me a little. Jagara is reborn?!? That's messed up! The guy with the "one black eye;" is he Darcia reborn, or am I confusing him with someone else? When the hell are Hige, Blue and Toboe gonna turn into wolves!? And... where did Kiba go? Hmm. I must've read this too quickly. Major props to all the song-related chapter titles. Let's see, that narrows it down to... ALL OF THEM! LOL I can name some right off the bat: -"She Never Mentions the Word Addiction" - lyric from "She Talks to Angels" -"The Devil In Your Eyes" - sounds familiar. I'm thinking a rock band, like Aerosmith... -"Poisoned By These Fairy Tales" - also very familiar, but can't put my finger (or paw) on it. -"That Only Proves That I'm Insane" - lyric from "You May Be Right" by Billy Joel -"I'm On The Hunt, I'm After You" - DUH! "Hungry Like The Wolf" by Duran Duran. Such an obvious title for a wolf fic, isn't it? ;-) -"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" - um... umm... Damn, what's her name!? Pat Benetar, is it? One of those rocker chicks from the 80's. -"Let Me Sleep On It" - Meatloaf. Okay, so I couldn't name them all. I was close, and this is a big-time radio listener talking here. I'm planning to do at least one Song Title for my upcoming "Wolf's Rain" fic too... Yes, I said it. i'm doing "Wolf's Rain." BE PREPARED for competition! ;-) Well, this has sure been a long review. Hope you like it, and I will definitely look out for the rest of this addictive fic. Until then, friend, keep writing.
Snodin 2008-09-09 ch 1,	abuseI've read some of your Wolf's Rain work before, including "Shots in Paradise," and I wasn't sure if this was a retelling of the story or one of the Post-Series fics. I guess it's clear now that it's the latter. And you know what? It really looks good. I liked how you introduced the main characters one by one, and kept little things like "Number 23" in there, as if Hige will never ever be rid of that dang number. Other intros were hard to read though, like Quent's. Why is he still killing wolves? I'll have to keep reading to find out, won't I? Heh. I dunno who Franklin is, but I'm sure he's a good writer. I'll keep reading.
0000 2008-09-05 ch 31, anon.	abuseWell, kumoricon was a huge disappointment this year, but your story cheers me up very well. The last few chapters have been good as always. It's interesting how you're setting up your plot so it will play out similarly to how did in the anime: the four wolves(?) together, with Quent and Blue following after them. Even the mutinying wolves of Zali's pack are included. It's like getting to watch Wolf's Rain all over again with a fresh outlook! I do hope you give them a happier ending in this story than in the actual one. Yes I'm soft, what of it? I cringed a little at Hige's last name, but I know first hand it's awfully hard to come up with a good surname for a wolf... Not that it's of much consequence to the overall plot, but you captured Cher's character very well; I could practically hear her voice speaking along with the written dialogue. I'm amazed at how well you capture all of the characters, without one major OC yet that I recall - not that I hate OCs necessarily, it just takes talent to use the characters of someone else as skillfully as you do. And congrats for taking a stab at explaining the human illusion. I have lost sleep wondering at the mechanics of that thing (if you shaved a wolf, would their human aspect be naked? If you clipped Tsume's claws, would his knife be shorter? etc. etc.) Seriously, I spend too much thought on this... I for one am hoping for some sort of reconciliation between Tsume and Zali, though I suppose that would be pretty heavily referring to things from your other story...still, I'd like to hear it.
0000 2008-08-16 ch 27, anon.	abuseFist of all THANK YOU for not killing him! And thank you for all the updates! :-) I like this chapter a lot, a nice mix of drama and humor. The part about the "target" on Tsume's chest, and Hige's reasons why the relationship could never work made me laugh. Poor Quent, he still can't seem to aim! The snippet from Zali and Tsume's past was amazing as well, and it was heart-warming to see the the gentler side of Zali's feeling for 'his' runt. Are they ever going to talk about what happened between them in your other fic, or is that going to be kept separate? I know this is belated, but the part from the previous chapter about the gem needed to open paradise seems a little...incongruent with the nature of paradise and wolves. (i.e. it's in a wolf's nature to run to the ends of the earth following their instinct to paradise, but it's not like a wolf to carry around a gemstone. Traditionally, they don't even have hands...) I don't mean to be an evil flamer by this! It's still one of the best Wolf's Rain fics I've yet seen. It would be interesting to hear a wolf's take on the unconventional relationship of a "human" and a wolf - both of them male to boot. Do wolves not care about homosexuality the way that humans do? I had similar questions in 'Tougher Than Leather'. Even if wolves are indifferent to it, it seems like something should be said on the matter... P.S. Yeah, I've had similar rants. The Suethor-style characterization runs rampant, even in professional stuff: protagonist: GOOD, everyone else: evil/stupid. It makes me mad how Denethor and the like get characterized. I wish there were more authors out there like you!

It's funny to read their interactions with other wolves. Plus I like that you threw in the possibility that Quent is a wolf too. It's interesting to think about and original. Keep up the good work! Agh, the suspense! ...now that that's out of the way, I'd just wanted to mention something I like about your writing: pretty much all of the characters have different motives. And while that brings them into conflict, they're all still trying to do what's right by them, just like most people (or wolves) would do in reality. That give the characters depth and makes their various circumstances believable. It gets old very fast when people have characters that seem to exist simply to be evil or stupid. So, good job on this! Here's hoping for a swift update!
