Why, Greenangelwings, I believe this is your best. It has a lovely clarity and simplicity. Plus, it captures something that so much MM/HG chooses to ignore, which is that if Minerva were the kind of woman to desire a student without serious pangs of conscience, then she wouldn't be the kind of woman Hermione could love.

Also, you've displayed a growing range of technical skills. There's good use of rhythm and sentence variety. Your word choices are, for the most part, elegant and appropriate to character. (Yes, I used to teach. Does it show?)
