I can relate I have Dislexa myself, I can read very well but spelling can be hard as sometimes, I spell a 3 letter word 3 times to get it right or I can sometimes get a long word right first time, all you need is your own way around.

I have dyslexia as well as depression, both of which affect learning, I was dianosed when I was still in elementary. Your story made me cry because I could relate so much to the characters. You did a great job on this story in showing how it affects people and families. Bravo.

this was great... very sweet. I have DIscalculia, so math is pretty much hell. It's nice to see someone highlighting these different learning disabilities.

I liked it. I did think that Snape was extremely OOC, but the rest was great. It was obvious you knew what you were talking about and, more importantly, cared about it. I have dyspraxia, which effects my speech and behaviour a little but in particular my learning and motor skills. It's hard to deal with sometimes, especially as most people don't know or care what it is. It's worth it though, because it gave me the ability to write well. Thank you for writing this and for being so brave about coping with a learning disability.

Very nicely done story. You have my sympathy for your learning problems. I'm 53 years old, and the comment about rote spelling practice hit home for me because I'm currently doing it for some problem words like millennium, restaurant, naive, and some others. I have mild problems that have elements of dyslexia, dysgraphia, discalculia (maths), and some others that I just lump under input/output errors (can you tell I'm a computer geek). Things improved for me when I unconsciously shifted to pattern recognition and reading in clumps, and writing improved when I started speaking stuff in my head as I wrote and just let it flow out of my fingers with no stop in between. Touch typing helped too because it allows the information to flow out unhindered, and a spell checker that underlines problem words as you work enables me to catch a problem word and correct it right then, and if it's consistent, work on ingraining the proper spelling until it flows properly. We didn't even have the first suspicion that I had learning disabilities (girls don't need maths so the problem there was essentially ignored when it started showing in primary school), but my Year 12 English teacher commented about one of my consistent mispellings and that it strongly suggested I had dyslexia, so I didn't have a clue until I was 18 and only a few weeks away from graduating from high school. I hope your schedule and muse will allow you to write and post more chapters on more stories sometime soon. Keep up the good work. Zafaran {mailto:} zafaran {at} fastmail {dot} fm

Very good. I liked the 'real' reaction that Snape would have to his child. He doesn't hate him, he just wants to fix him. I also liked the way he treated the student with Dysgraphia.

I can't do math. I never have been able to understand it. I struggle with anything besides simple mathematics, and most of the time I found I've done the problems wrong because I've transposed the numbers. I do understand the frustration of the student. It does make you feel so stupid to not be able to do something that everyone else can.

yep there are a few of us out there.

I wish Stacy had not been an annon. I wanted to say, even though I don't have a lot of time for my own stories, I wouldn't mind looking over yours. I actually can figure out the spelling, I'm good at that.

Drop me a P.M. if you want
