A really interesting time period! When people say AU, they usually mean modern times, but to write about something else is really unusual and unique!

You know, the minute I read the summary for this fic I had an image of Gone With the Wind. ^_^ I find it funny that that inspired it.
That was a rather long movie. I like it, mind you, but it was long. I really do like it very much, puts me in the time. Although, in case you don't know slavery wasn't the ONLY problem with the whole civil war. It was the most popular and hot-button one, but the South was ** at the North (and vice versa) for other reasons too. Regardless, it came out very nicely I think. I love this era too. Especially when you have women trying to defy standards, always gets me happy. (I'm such a feminist that sometimes I annoy even myself) Anywho, good work, it works nicely as a standalone but I think would work very well as a multi-chapter too!
