Wow! A yugioh fanfic that's well written and IC thats got an original plot. Great intro, it's nice to see the ceremonial battle staight through someone's POV instead of in the third person, it makes it especially wrenching reading he goodbye and dark yuugi's mini breakdown.
am really excited to see where this is going, so has yuugi actually gone back in time or this more of a egyptian afterlife were yuugi's got to take up the role of pharoah without yami no yuugi's help? I hope Mana turns up in this fic cuz it would be interestin to watch yuugi sqirm when he gets glomped

lol, VERY well written, VERY cool idea, I WANNA SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT.

You already know a lot of my feelings on this story. For starters, it was literally almost impossible for me to read straight through it. Even though this is a show about a children's card game, the end of the series is still very sad even in its original form, where the reasoning was clear and the ending was the 'correct' one. But this: Yuugi having to leave, how much this aggrieves everyone . . . yeah. It's hard to read. I really had to stop and skip forward when Yuugi's grandpa looks like he's going to crumple to his knees in grief.

Despite myself, however, I am slightly amused by Dark Yuugi's EXTREME ANGER. He will always be a little hilarious to me, I'm afraid, as much as I love him. ^^;; I like the way you translated 'Aibou' as 'partner' rather than leaving it in Japanese; even though most of the fandom is aware of what the word means, it's a nice touch. One tends to forget the meaning and treat it almost as a second name after enough fics. Dark Yuugi's deep dediction to Yuugi, and the fact that he is the one that really does want to remain attached to Yuugi, whatever Yuugi's fate, is beautiful. So is Yuugi's discomfort with that. I like that it's Dark Yuugi who is more attached to Yuugi here rather than the other way around. It's the rare writer who picks up on that aspect of their relationship, especially in the context of the Ceremonial Duel. (Yes, their parting is painful. Yes, Yuugi is sorry to have to see the Pharaoh off. But he still does it because he knows he has to, and it's as much for himself as for Atem!)

Also, woah, totally massive amounts of subtext. I mean, I know it's not shocking given the future of this fic, but ahaha! It's THERE and . . . THERE. =D

And Jounouchi went and BROKE MY HEART in the middle, dammit! So did Anzu, actually, although my heart broke for Yuugi more because Anzu just can't help that she's more attracted to Atem than to Yuugi. It's painful and sad, that love triangle.

Finally, it made me happy when Atem said he wanted to go to the arcade with Yuugi and play co-op mode. Also, it made me very sad. I WANT THEM TO PLAY CO-OP MODE TOO. D= (I guess we'll have to settle for Zombies and Yamino(yuugi) instead.)

Your treatment of all the characters is spot-on, and the treatment of the concept is sterling. I've never thought that Yuugi would have to go through the door if he lost - in my head that scenario just ended with playing happy families with Atem. This seems like exactly what would happen. I love, love, love Sugoroku in this. And the way that you named the parts of the duel disk, actually; it shows all the thought that went into your take on the YGO world. And that stupid, stupid smiley-face gesture that everyone got to join in on. Ohmyheart.

Augh, I'm in love. That was one of the most prettiest fics I've seen in a long time. Yami/Atem was such a scary dork with his wish to follow Yuugi, and the whole first chapter was made of love. I'll be waiting for the next chapter .

Poor yuugi and Atem. Did they blend together so no one can ever part them or is Atem MIA. Good chapter.

You know...I want really badly to compliment you on the magnificence of your writing. I want to ramble for three and a half paragraphs about how well you wove an alternate ending for the story, at how well you portrayed and helped me to visualize the complex play of emotions between the characters, how well you kept everyone marvelously and fantastically in-character, how well you adhered to the tone of the series' end even though you were writing your own ending, and how much this piece made me want to downright bawl my eyes out.

I WANT to comment extensively on all of that, but...

The ending has left me in a disarming state of W.T.F.

Anyways, I'm wondering how this will play out. Yuugi taking his other self's place as king. And his other self being gone when Yuugi entered the RPG. I have some ideas on what that means but I don't want to get ahead of any other fans that haven't thought of the possibilities.

I'm determined to actually review this fic since I've just been a silent reader of yours for so long. I have a feeling this will be an amazing story.

Great Story! The scene where Atem is on his knees and muttering his name over and over again was so...heart-wrenching!
Very well written, though I am still confused on why Yuugi was supposed to go back, and where he says,"My name is Atem," that's not really him, right?
It's ironic that Yuugi lost the duel deeming him the "weak" one but he was the one trying to calm Atem down after he figured out his Partner was going to move on.
And just out of curiosity, is Kaiba not present at the Ceremonial Duel?
