Wow! Imagine if that had actually happened in the book! I seriously think it would have made the series a lot better! Seriously, though... I really hate Dudley's parents! Anyway, this was a brilliant oneshot, I'm very glad I read it! Thank you very much for writing it!

I wonder if Dudley's initial revelation was similar to how it really happened in canon... and the adult Dursleys' reactions were horrific, I could feel how Dudley struggled with his decision.

I think this was the best Dudley and Harry story I've read so far. Great job! I loved it.

Gosh... Another tasteless fan of drama. THIS crap had won!? Seriously!? I do admit it's written in perfect style but the plot kinda want me to throw it into the sewer. If you are as proud of it as I think you are, let me tell you you have nothing to be proud of except for writing talent. Your imagination leaves way too much to be desired.
I had wasted a good part of a hour reading this. What a mistake on my part. I finished it just to check if you can make it even more stupid. Feel pity for those who found it good enough to make you a winner.
Sorry. I know I have no mercy. But I seriously hadn't read an imbecile story like that in more that a year. Drama is good only when you know to manipulate it and you clearly can't do that.

This is a really great thought provoking story and I think you have captured the character of Dudley perfectly.
Igor 5/14/13 . chapter 1
This story was very good, I loved reading it.
But a little part of me can't ask, seeing Dudley ride to the sunset on his parent's car...
What now?

Not the biggest fan of the language. It seemed awfully...American. Everything else was perfectly English though so *shrug*.

Anyway, very nice insight, especially for the psychological aspect. I appreciate this and felt that it was very true-to-canon. I mean, Harry wasn't often psychically abused in the books and he didn't act like someone physically abused on a regular basis. He wasn't so much afraid of adults as he didn't trust them because no one had ever given him a reason to, so every time I and find a story about how Harry was horribly abused as a child in physical or sexual ways really bother me. This didn't because of the events and the catalysts. Nicely done.

this was a really good story
you did a good job of making it realistic
Cherrysinger 4/30/13 . chapter 1
This was great. Dudley changed just enough to be believable...he isn't suddenly buddy-buddy with Harry, and he doesn't embrace magic or anything, but he's acknowledged both. I loved this one shot so much because it was so incredibly realistic and true to the books. I tend to stay away from the HP fandom because fanfiction authors write a little bit too unrealistically. First of all, the characterization is usually way off, usually with Harry suddenly becoming extremely confident. Part of why I love Harry is because he's so humble, and, well, normal. He's just a kid. A lot of fanfiction also portray Harry as becoming really powerful after approximately a year of training, capable of vanquishing and outsmarting virtually anyone. Well, news flash, Harry was never a genius who could complete like 10 years worth of training in 1 year (which many fanfics have him do). Also, for some reason, everyone seems to have made up a spell that will correct Harry's eyesight. If that existed, wouldn't he have done that already in J.K Rowling's books? Sigh. Sorry for the rant. It's just so hard to find a gem like your story. Thank you so much for your story, I think that it addressed the serious issue of abuse in far greater detail than J.K Rowling ever did.
The Musician's Song 4/23/13 . chapter 1
That was a very insightful story and very well thought out. I found the ending incredibly realistic and no one was actually out of character. I think other than the fact that it was well written, that's what won me over with this fic. Dudley was still somewhat of an arsehole, but he shed his ignorance about his home life and became a better person because of it. I think I can safely say that the term "ignorance is bliss" could have been stamped on Dudleys' head in bright pink before he learnt about the abuse.
