| Nomen Ist Omen 2008-06-14 ch 1, | abuseI had wanted to review this one, but time and my own mind-numbing incoherency came in the way. I have to say this is lovely; it's been a while that I have seen a well-executed and decently-written Nuriko centred piece. In fact, this is very well-written -- you have a nice and clear style. There was a lack of glaring errors as well, which shows that you have edited this carefully. I love the premise, would like to congratulate you on having written this kind of fic. Why the fandom has done so little to explore the possibility of Nuriko surviving the battle is beyond me. However, thank you for writing this! You made Nuriko extremely interesting here. He seems embittered, kind of depressed and hiding his pain under a smile. I somehow see him cracking here, towards the end. I like that you didn't emphasise on any pairing here - it could be that he's mourning for Miaka's love, Hotohori or both. I'm fed up with fans insisting it could only be one or the other. You on, the other hand, just left it to the reader's interpretation (which is marvellous, totally so!). The fact that his POV was described in such a sublime manner made this an enchanting reading for me. Nuriko is such a multifarious character -- and this complexity makes him intriguing. You have in, many ways, covered him very well. I'd say that this one of the better FY fics I have read of late. I'd coax you to continue, but if you leave it like this, it's fine as well. See, it's so fantastic that you even made me review under this account and I usually refrain from reviewing fics on this site (because most of it is badly written crap, no matter how you look at it). |
