I'm not sure whether Snape's in character or not after all, canon Snape fought and died for love and loyalty and seemed to have no self-interest or self-preservation at all. Yet, he was a cynic and he might well say what he says here, even if he didn't practise what he preached. And it's very well written.

Oh, I like! This is ironic and dark, just like Snape... very nice...And on the whole, I think your Snape is very IC here, and he has some lines which I enjoyed...like the "Granger. You have obviously never developed a taste for fine liquor." ... who honestly walks into a room and greets someone that way? (only Snape!) mdr...

Also, I think there's a typo in the fourth paragraph...it says "telling hims so."
